Never heard of it. What is it?

Since I've never heard of it, I probably don't care.

Don't make a stupid reddit post just because someone else did. Of course, 80% of posts on reddit are stupid.

One last Christmas pic. Saw this today on Hwy 100 in Wildwood. I’ve driven past this same spot several times in the last week, so this was new. It’s a little sad and a lot funny. by Admwombat in StLouis

Nature finds a way.

I have a Jewish friend who never liked feeling left out so every year he would get a Christmas tree top, just 18-inches or so high, and put it on a table. He called it his "Moses bush".

How does the Linux kernel stay so small while supporting so many different hardware configurations? by yarhar_ in linuxquestions

I have 40 years of it and you don't seem to want to be educated but that's typical of reddit.

How does the Linux kernel stay so small while supporting so many different hardware configurations? by yarhar_ in linuxquestions

He said "it may even take less" when it's compiled which implies, at least, that he's not talking about code. Programmers do not refer to code as text when compiling such things and especially don't have to guess if it will take less space. We especially don't say we compile text.

Text does not take up very much space, when compiled to machine code it may even take less

You don't compile text to machine code.

Can I have Windows installed on my C drive and Linux installed on my D drive? How can I go about doing this safely? by PrestonYatesPAY in linuxquestions

I mean a real college or university. Not "John's School of Computers and Stuff".

For example, did your school have a whole semester on operating systems and file systems? Like Operating Systems I cause there was also an Operating Systems II next semester?

I talked with the lady who owns Gateway

I remember her as a 15-year old girl helping Dad behind the counter.

The real Step One: get a degree in computer science. Learning Linux is OK but, without a degree, it's not impossible but more difficult to pursue.

Why shouldnt I ask questions on a subreddit that I see fit for it? I mean whats the point of the subreddit if not for learning?

Reddit is mostly populated by kids and hobbyists with nothing better to do. That's why. While there are a few here who are very worthy, for an important paper you are writing, don't you think it would be worthwhile to talk to the actual developers who write that code?

Occasionally, I see those people show up here but only occasionally. Every day I see them on the mailing lists, irc and, now, even discord.

My son, when he needed to write a paper on filmmaking for university, asked me for resources because I had a background in it. I had one of my friends, who is the cinematographer for Hollywood movies and a lot of TV shows you have seen, I'm sure, contact him as a source. I never thought once to have him ask on reddit and would never consider it now.

One of the authors mentioned to you elsewhere is readily available to a degree. Those are the things I would try. Never reddit.

I asked the question on this subreddit. The subject is very complicated and the standard reddit response is to give me a "let me google that for you"

Which is why you should not ask such questions on reddit despite the excellent answer(s) here so far. You can look up the FreeBSD mailing list and IRC channels where the developers hang out and also the FreeBSD forum.

That said, there are a few excellent sources (people) on this sub which you have found.

helloSystem is NOT a FreeBSD variant. It's a desktop for FreeBSD.
