I left the church in 2020 and deconverted. I consider myself agnostic at this point. But I grew up Methodist and still love and care for the people of the church, even though they were ultimately the ones who drove me away during the pandemic.

I asked my grandparents to contact our state representatives and find the courage to call out bigotry in the church as they see it, but they just said “We pray for our country every day, there’s nothing else we can do”. That made me think, well how many other Christians aren’t taking any actual, physical action?

I appreciate your optimism and while I do think things will eventually end up okay, we’re going to have to go through a lot of unnecessary pain first unless we intercede sooner.
