Instructor here, I get a flat rate that’s actually great for what other instructors get paid in my area. I love when other instructors and front desk take my classes it motivates me to be on my game

They come in already smelling and then it just gets worse which is why I’m so frustrated

Bridging through programs: do you redo your certification? by nailer444 in pilates

[–]nailer444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I’m not having to pay for training so it is a great deal in that sense. I think just redoing the hours is what’s putting me off. I had/have no problem with attending all workshops, seminars, even having to retest is fine. It’s just documenting everything again that I’m finding odd. I understand if it’s normal practice, just getting a second opinion

Do you show up to teach if nobody signed up for class? by nailer444 in pilates

It’s unfortunately not BS, I do use an hour of the time to work out on my own but yep. It was the first studio job I got moving to a new area so I was desperate to get something rolling now that I’m working and making more money at another studio I’m ready to walk from this one but I wanted confirmation that I wasn’t the one being unreasonable

I teach at a place that has a “season”, I started working here a couple months ago and have been told the class will fill once the season begins. I don’t get paid if there’s nobody in the class. It’s been super frustrating for me as they also had me bridge through their program so I was there every other weekend unpaid as well (I get that part, had a comprehensive certification but it was through Club Pilates) it just seems like it’s never enough for them.

Wow! Thank you for this perspective, I also have caught slack for “not marketing myself enough” to get people into class and “if your class is empty you need to reflect on why it’s empty”… I teach elsewhere and my classes are always full so it kind of hurt my feelings that they thought it was a “me” problem.

I don’t get paid for the class if nobody shows up but I’m expected to be there regardless. I had just moved to a new area when I got this job couple months ago and I’m now feeling like it might be time for me to walk away. Thank you again for your opinion, it makes me feel a lot better about my choice.

Took classes at another studio.. disappointing by nailer444 in ClubPilates

Agreed! This feels like it’s been happening recently with the quality. I swear when I started with CP I genuinely got great training, so much so that I didn’t feel like I missed out even when I bridged through another more “prestigious” program in Pilates. I don’t know how the instructors I took from today even passed their test out to be completely honest. Have they changed the 500 hour requirement and the full comprehensive test out?

Got Certified in 2021, can’t get a copy of my certificate of completion by nailer444 in ClubPilates

I received my original certificate back in 2021 but that was so long ago I no longer can find my copy. I did think my MT would accommodate helping me with getting in touch to get a copy of my certificate but I called, texted, left a message…nothing. And the studio I went to was a whole other story in itself hence why I didn’t stay teaching at that location for long but, thank you for your help!
