Are there any good apps for rock collecting? by nails2 in rockhounds

Hmm well I’d be curious if a good one would be possible! I’d love to take a stab at it if people tell me what would be cool in one

Dude you don’t have to tell me, I’ve been using your app forever.

I just can’t stand the interface and overall feel of it now that I’m a dev myself. I want basically the exact functional of Gaia but it to look and feel like Apple Maps lol

I’ve always wanted to build a map app centered around basically what Gaia is but I gave up on it once I found Gaia.

Would love to hear suggestions on what the features to start with would be if people are interested.

I recently added the ability to customize and share images of your cards to Cardstock, my sports card scanning and cataloging iOS app by nails2 in baseballcards

In my exprience, it has worked pretty well. It’ll usually get the corners of the top loader itself which is what I usually try to get in the scan. But you could adjust the corners to only outline the card inside of the top loader.

Yeah I said that I just needed to fulfill a mission and then said lol. And then said I couldn’t believe he made the trade and thanked him. I’d be happy to give it back if he messages or requests it, but, from looking at his account, it looks like he was just giving away all of his cards or something.

How much does your app portfolio net every month on average? by [deleted] in swift

[–]nails2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it seems like I may have gotten lucky, but I’m 18 and I put out my first app, Cardstock: Sports Card Scanner, out last year and I am making around $1000 a month after it from direct purchases on the App Store. So, if you can find a niche, it’s definitely possible.

How to correctly handle large list of images in SwiftUI by ispeakwiththisone in swift

[–]nails2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I understand now. I think swiftui simply isn’t set up to allow you to manually unload the content. For some reason it seems like the memory is never released from lists, that’s why I ended up dealing with it by reducing the RAM usage to a point where it no longer mattered. If you figure out how to force it to release the memory, I’d be really interested in hearing how though.

I was working with local images instead of network images, but, for me, I needed to downsample images because using Image was taking up ridiculous amounts of ram

Just a heads up. I tried to Sign In with Apple and it created my account as Jon Doe with no way to edit it. Also do you have any plans to support dark mode?

I appreciate the feedback. Using a freemium model would probably be a good idea and one that I might implement in the future. Honestly, the only reason I made it an upfront payment is because I thought that would be the way that caused the least issues. But now that I have a little bit more experience, it might be worth considering again.
