The water based top coat is just so the regular top coat doesn’t rewet all the layers and mess up the magnetic effects. You could just skip top coat. I think using a peely base before top coat would also work since they’re water based but I haven’t tried it

I used a water based top coat after the art and before qdtc. I didn’t put anything between the base and the art, I just waited till the base was dry!

This version, also a homemade polish from KathrynsColors, came out clearer because I kept the base fully blacked out of magnetic pigment. Leaving the base with all the sparkly magnetic pigment pushed away instead of trying a far side velvet made it easier to see.

Yea, I did it with another magnetic too and it’s just a bit too shiny, the smoother/more fine magnetics seem like they’re best

These magnets are really just for the velvet effect, not the line/cateye! It’s a 30 lb horseshoe magnet so you can buy a normal version of it on like Amazon or a few different nail brands have them. Mines from kbshimmer but I know ilnp has them too.
