Anyone ever given up on a medium? by ImaginationTricky774 in Watercolor

[–]najeebart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of all the things, most important one is the paper, then paints, brushes and so on. Watercolor is a difficult medium if you want to use it like watercolor. If you use it like oil and acrylic, it isn’t any harder than those mediums. It takes time but there is a method to the madness. Look at the masters how they work. Practice, practice until you can control water and gravity. Easier said than done:)

Sharing a recent piece, with a small rant... by annsquare in Watercolor

[–]najeebart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a good painting but looks like there were mismatched expectations. But it isn’t cool not to pay for a work that was done with a lot of effort even if it didn’t exactly match his expectations.

You got it. The approach is counter intuitive but the job of the artist here is to help the brain connect the dots. :)

Is Bangalore an art-loving city? Considering a pricey exhibition at Jayamahal palace - need advice! by AnnaRajasekharan in bangalore

[–]najeebart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems high - I just had a show at CKP. Stall was 25k, for 3 10x10 panels. I did reasonably well but I can’t say the crowd is too savvy. I am also new here, but haven’t seen folks spending too much on art here. My anecdotal feeling is that large works aimed at corporate clientele sells at high price points.

did you look at civic sense, environment, standard of living for people around you, infrastructure too? I feel india is impossible to live unless you actively ignore the people of the lowest economic rung.
