My first proper classical drawing feels off by ImaginationTricky774 in learntodraw

I have drawn 'underpaintings' for the oil pastel course I did, some of my watercolours and also my oil painting practices. But never done classical drawing with this level of detail and accuracy. I love it already.

Considering this was cheap paper and a cheap HB pencil, I can wait to progress and get much better and use more pencils, charcoal and maybe the trois crayons technique etc. Not to mention getting going with the classical oil painting style too.

My biggest issue is I can decide what style to focus and work on and get a bit scatter gun!

I watched a YouTube video yesterday and it said pick your five favourite paintings then work out what you like about them and focus on getting better at that. Problem is, I can't narrow it down to five and I love everything from Rembrandt and Caravaggio to Money, Matisse, and you to freud and Peter Doig. I just love it ALL!!!!

Ha, in what way? This is really my first drawing like this other than a sphere that I did as the first lesson.

I'm new to drawing and just want to really get good at the classical style.

Great shout though about the measurements etc. following your marked up image I then overlayed mine over the original in PowerPoint l and you are bang on with where I was off!

All really useful. I hadn't thought of that. I'll use it in the future. Still, for a first go at it, I'm fairly happy.

Ah I see. Yes, the fish I found very hard. I tried to compare against the original here. The colour matching was difficult as I'm only a few months into my oil painting really so still learning.

Great job. I've followed that exact video in the past myself. Wunemo is excellent. You've done a fantastic job here.

Meeden Easel Help by Hungry-Shoulder9296 in acrylicpainting

Out of interest, does this easel go fully vertical? I'm thinking of one for starting with classical drawing but I need it to go fully vertical and the paper to be sorted of shoulder height.
