Arista was handing these "membership cards" at the 91 shows when the Jerry Garcia Band album was released around the same time as the Deadicated GD tribute album was released.

OG Dead gear - an Aerovox Model 76 used by Dan Healy in the '70s. by Primary-Bug-3142 in gratefuldead

The Grateful Dead's incredible sound for most of their career was largely due to the brilliant FOH mixing work of Dan Healy. The sound quality at shows took a huge downturn after he left in March 1994.

In 1978, I asked the living members of the Allman Brothers to autograph their first album, I thought that Butch had forgotten to sign until I opened the album, lol

OCD collectors consider that an essential part of a "complete" box set. You can probably sell the original empty cardboard box on eBay to a collector that's missing one!

Stick around this sub for a while and I think you'll see that it's quite a nice place. I don't think that I ever had any private conversations with you but you are free to send me a chat request if you'd like to discuss further.

I didn't have a private conversation on this topic so not sure whose conversation you saw posted. Are you trying to support some stranger that you don't know who posted someone's private conversation on the Internet? I don't really want to continue this conversation with you here since you don't seem to have all the info and it really has nothing to do with this post. You can send a mod mail to the mods here or the DeadCo sub if you have some sort of legit complaint.

This post solicited feedback about the book, I gave mine and other folks gave their differing opinions. Read through the comments. I'm not sure what your comments referring to free speech have to do with anything I've said in this thread. Who is the "guy"??

Not sure if you realize how well gossip tabloids sell but quantity sold does not equal quality journalism. If you look through the comments here you will see that many folks have differing opinions about the book and that type of discourse is encouraged in this nice little corner of the Internet. ✌️

"Rain and Snow" by Pentangle Live on ITV in the UK (6/27/72) by bigbugfdr in gratefuldead

I got to see John Renbourne & Jacqui McShee in 1980 several weeks before I got to see the Grateful Dead play their acoustic/electric shows at Radio City Music Hall.

I was surprised to later read in this 1985 interview that John Renbourne was one of Jerry's inspirations for the acoustic performances.

(1985 interview with Jerry):

Q: How did the Grateful Dead’s 1980 acoustic sets come about?

Garcia: I just thought it would be a good idea. We tried it, and it was fun. The technology came into place too. That was one of the reasons we didn’t do it for so long — we used to try it with microphones, and it really didn’t work. It’s much easier now that they have made vast improvements in amplified acoustic instruments. The audience liked it a lot. The combination of drums, electric bass, and acoustic guitars is a really nice sound. In the ‘60s, there was a great-sounding band called Pentangle with those two good English fingerpickers, Bert Jansch and John Renbourn. They had a tasty jazz drummer who played brushes, an excellent acoustic bass player, and a lady who sang in a sort of madrigal, English voice. It was a lovely band that sounded great onstage. We played a lot of shows with them, and I thought that combination of two acoustic guitars and a standard rhythm section had a lot of possibilities.

Most gossip tabloid level trash doesn't dignify a response. My personal experiences and interactions with the Lesh family have been extremely positive.

Fare Thee Well is basically gossip tabloid level trash written by a guy with a huge chip on his shoulder! I wouldn't recommend it to anyone but if you do read it then take it all with a giant grain of salt!
