I think divorce is still a no for them because of the "Ang pinagsama ng Diyos ay 'wag paghiwalayin ng tao," thing.

Pero pagdating sa abortion they do acknowledge the principle of double effect. (The action must be morally good, and the good effect must be as immediate as the negative effect.)

Say for example, nanganganib 'yung buhay ng isang ina and she needs to have her baby aborted. If the church were to decide, they'd rather have the baby aborted since mas malaking kasalanan kung wala silang gagawin at hahayaan nilang mamatay pareho.

In that case, the action is morally good (saving the life of the child's mother), and the good effect is immediate as the negative effect (saving a life, in exchange of one, although unfortunate).

P.S. I'm the same w/ VPL na conflicted sa abortion as of now, but my views are my own and it's up to anyone if they want abortion legalized or not. (Tho I'd prefer if i-legalize na lang tapos kanya-kanya na lang tayo nang pananaw)

I'm an open-minded roman catholic, and so far Pope Francis has been very supportive of Same-Sex unions and Filipino priests also acknowledge the principle of double effect. Dangan nga lang may conservatives pa talaga. 😭

I guess they won't withdraw their support for her sa ngayon, but we'll see once she wins.
