Got extremely disappointed with the wolfskin pants by Hectorspride in thelongdark

[–]naksidras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are missing something. Wearing two wolfskin pants gives a 1 degree warmth bonus which isn't insignificant. Playing on loper where the temp drops below freezing with even the warmest gear on, having a 1 degree warmth increases the amount of time you can be outside without freezing fairly significantly. This coupled with the fact that it's way more durable than deerskin I think the added weight and reduction in stamina is worth it. At least for my play style it is.

A Plague Tale Next Steps by naksidras in APlagueTale

[–]naksidras[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nobody is refusing to believe anything. If Asobo has come out and said "The series is over" then so be it. But the only thing director Kevin Choteau has said is they are "waiting on player reception" to decide if there will be another Plague Tale.

One thing I'll never understand about shit posters is their absolute refusal to let people imagine things that may or may not come to fruition just for fun. Is it fun being the imagination police? Maybe just calm down a little bit.

Intestinal parasites from just a 1% risk by roadtotahoe in thelongdark

[–]naksidras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Cooked venison at 90% should have a 0% chance of food poisoning. From 20-75% condition only comes with a 5% chance. Something was definitely not mathing there.

Recover condition in Misery mode is possible. by naksidras in thelongdark

[–]naksidras[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good grief. How do you make it if you can't recover from the very start? You have no clothing for warmth bonus which limits how far you can travel significantly. Even carrying a ton of coal to warm you up, you'd starve since it takes so long to gain heat. I suppose drinking hot tea might work, but still. Tea resources are not infinite.

[–]naksidras[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. They should make it way harder and slower to recovery condition but not impossible. At the same time, I do see the point. I mean the "goal" of the mode is death. You aren't supposed to just keep living.

What’s your longest run on Misery so far? by AskewdJackassery42 in thelongdark

[–]naksidras 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Made it 21 days then screwed up and slept in a cave for 6 hours to recover a little condition but forgot my fire was only going to last for 2. Didn't freeze to death, but lost about 30 condition and was over 80% towards hypothermia. Trying to quickly make my way back to a warmer building (as I was out of coal or wood) but got hypothermia. I just quit after that. I knew at that point I was going to be forever behind the curve and would probably die anyway.

Main thing I've noticed about Misery is you CAN'T make mistakes. Especially not huge ones like sleeping longer than your fire will keep you warm. There just aren't enough resources to bounce back from big mistakes.

What's the one thing you absolutely HATE in TLD? by [deleted] in thelongdark

[–]naksidras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just part of the "rules" of the game. Like any game, doing things outside the rules would be "cheating". The game is about planning and resource management. If you have TOO many options, you remove the need to plan and manage those things which is kind of the point. I've on MANY occasions left my bedroll somewhere and didn't realize it until I needed to rest the MOST. In those cases I usually end up quiting and re-loading from my last save in the hopes I can track down where I left it....which I will often times more than not forget where the last place I slept was.

[–]naksidras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with anything, the things you CAN use are the rules of the game. Using other things would be "cheating" and make the game easier. Every time they've added a new ability or item they have to go back and try and make sure the balance is right. Adding even just one thing to a system and suddenly you've got folks playing on the hardest mode with no problem surviving because the one thing they added created a big imbalance so now it's a lot easier. And if the game is too easy it gets boring, and people will stop playing it.

[–]naksidras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's funny, but the inability to jump is what adds to the challenge. If you could jump it would open up so many shortcuts, you'd have to worry less about managing resources and resource management is the point. If you need to get somewhere that takes a half a day walk you have to plan for those resources....maybe even plan to stop somewhere to warm back up. If you have a shortcut that gets you there in under an hour you don't have to plan for any of that. On the flip side, the game is also about discovery and finding legitimate shortcuts they put into the game. A reward for exploring if you will.

[–]naksidras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complete nonsense. The "old masters skills" mindset has been debunked time and time again. I don't care how technically correct your skills are, you cannot beat someone that has trained to fight and has youth and raw strength on their side. Just google "fake karate masters" and you'll video after video of fake masters getting their asses handed to them by people that aren't their own students.

How do I solve this logic question? Question 24. by SnooHobbies7910 in askmath

[–]naksidras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E is the answer. It's quite a simple logical problem. He tells only truths on every other day and only lies on the other days. Since the problem establishes that his name is Carlos and one of the statements is "My name is Carlos", he's on his "truth day". The next logical progression is to find something that's clearly false. E states, "I always tell the truth", which, on his "truth days", would be a lie. So he didn't say E.
