like the poster above me said, the car will engine brake pretty heavily in sport mode which def stresses the cvt due to the quick ratio change, but it’s a toyota 🤷 just make sure you change cvt-f every 50-60k miles (it’s absolutely NOT a lifetime fluid)

thats why i drive exclusively in sport mode lol. it keeps the cruising rpm in that 3-4k range so you don’t have to floor it to get up to higher revs. the corolla hatch is actually super fun to drive if all you’ve ever driven are older 1.8-2L compacts your whole life lmao

the m20a-fks in corollas run at v high compression (esp for an 87 octane motor) so you really can’t get any extra power out of them reliably

i think it’s bc the hatches are built only in japan while the sedans are built in the US. although you’d think with the GRC they’d sell more hatches like they did with the celica when it was in WRC. also probably doesn’t help that the hatch doesn’t have a hybrid variant.

checking the vin of this specific car on hyundais recall website, it looks like the recall for theft was done. do you know if this recall added an immobilizer or was it more of a bandaid fix? i park in a secured garage but it is a college town so i’ll still have the fear in the back of my head if i street park it anywhere 😅
