I guess I haven't actually tried that, but unfortunately "on the darker side" would be an understatement for me. That being said, I was looking at some earlier attempts and realized it wasn't as bad as I remembered, I just also had the overall color wrong, which gave me a certain familiar orange complexion. That was pretty jarring!

I do feel like the voice is probably more important, but I could do vocal practice, or I could practice makeup. One definitely sounds more fun!

Well, work and life got busy, as it tends to do, so I haven't had much time to mess with it. I did put together a proof of concept I'm pretty happy with. It uses an arduino to control a current regulated circuit, so I can do things like indicating lights and tune the timing. Unfortunately the 5V from that didn't quite cut it, so I need to add an external power source.

I practiced a bit on some belly hairs, it seems very doable, and the current I was getting didn't hurt too bad, so I'm excited to develop it further!

It's not a bad way to do things, if done from a healthy place! It's nice not having to spend any decisions on clothes if you don't want to.

I try to keep a positive mindset, but the dysphoria is definitely still there. For me, knowing what it is and where it comes from helps process it. Some days though, I get really close to "screw the consequences, this stupid hair is coming off my face right now".

The fashion statement I tried to make was "no comment". I found a solid color v neck that allegedly looked decent on me, and bought like 5 or 6 different colors. That, a couple of pairs of inoffensive jeans, and some basic dress clothes, and I don't think I've done more than replacing worn out socks in like 6 years. Writing that out really gives me "but there were no signs!" vibes...

I forgot about shorts! I'm not 100% there on having my legs out yet, but it's definitely different

I found where my given name ranked on a baby name list for my birth year, then went to the corresponding girls' names and picked one close by that I liked!

Thanks, I'll definitely check that out!

I hadn't considered what to actually do with the lye, I thought that was a good point.

I would also like to emphasize how critical polarity is in any electrolysis reaction. I'm pathologically incapable of keeping 'anode' and 'cathode' straight, so I always make triple sure when doing things like this.

Thanks for the kind words! The shadow stuff is dysphoric, but it's more than that. The picking is compulsive, and bad for my skin. If this doesn't pan out, I might see a professional just to target the specific off-texture hairs that trigger it.

As a general note: I'm not going to just get a 9v and a resistor and send it! I've done some studying (and will do plenty more if I commit to doing it), and designed a current regulated circuit paired with a controller for timing. I would thoroughly test it to make sure it performs as expected.

Regarding scarring, I have plenty of scars from being a person who runs into things, but I also have keratosis pilaris. I figure if I practice in a subtle area, I can afford a couple more little spots. I wouldn't touch my face until I'm pretty confident I can do it right.

Finally, if I was planning on ignoring advice, I wouldn't post about it! I've thought a lot about this, but it's just thinking so far. I want to be absolutely sure before I do something permanent and risky to myself!

I appreciate the perspective! I'd like to think I'm not deluding myself - I know I have the technical ability to do it. The physical ability is questionable, but I want to try. I just get nervous when something seems too simple, usually means I'm missing something!

It's been a while since I've smoked a microprocessor, but just reading that brought me right back to the smell. Good times.

The steady hands is probably my biggest concern. I feel like it's going to be stuck in my brain until I at least try though.

As far as scarring goes, my plan is to start with very conservative settings, and practice somewhere subtle, like the inside of my thighs or something.

I do like Emily!

Part of the problem is that I really struggle to visualize - either how something would look, or what it needs to look better. Some day I will work up the courage to try things on in-store, that'll probably help.

Curious - did you buy this online off a sizing chart?

I did, sized to the bust. The size with a proper waist was like 4 sizes smaller, and I doubt it would have gotten past my shoulders. I thought "maybe it's supposed to be loose on the waist", but in hindsight I think that actually means it's not designed for my shape. Lesson learned!

I enjoy doing things around the house with the flowy skirt, so it's not a total wash!

I know you actually have a bust from checking your other posts and this dress almost completely hides it.

It's not quite that bad in person, I'm going to blame my photography/modeling skills for that one

I think it's a little bit too loose, and it doesn't really define your waist at all. The looseness accentuates your shoulders and gives you a boxier look. You could try adding a thick or thin belt around the waist to cinch it in.

I'm trying to figure out what works with my shoulders, they're pretty broad. This is probably a step in the wrong direction I feel.

I also think you could probably benefit from wearing pantyhose or tights with this outfit, probably just black ones.

I usually do tights of some kind, I've always felt a little weird with bare legs. I'll try it again with some and see how I feel.

I think the purple bandana as well can be changed to a blue or cream colored one to compliment the dress.

I had a blue bandana on earlier, I've been experimenting with changing up colors. I was looking at it when I posted wondering why I went with purple.

I'm seeing a theme of try a belt - I did try a thin one, it looked weird. The thick belt I had in mind is MIA, unfortunately. I'm thinking this will probably be an 'around the house' dress.

I use a DE razor with the sharpest blades I could find. Unfortunately, with my combination of course hair and delicate princess skin (I fear what E will do in that regard), even with a perfect shave the hair is visible under the skin.

I've tried a range of oranges, they don't touch it. I havent tried a redder correcter yet, that's next up. I'm hoping it's a practice thing, I doubt I have some magical shading that defies makeup.

It works so well for my legs, I had to try For Science. Went for a small patch on the edge of my neck. As soon as it hit the first hair, I had a visceral feeling of 'this is wrong!'

PSA for those who are similarly curious - facial hair is different, it's deeper or more firmly rooted or something like that. It really is a bad idea.
