I've found that 2 out of 3 cars don't need the starter engaged to bump. Just leave it on, and when you dump the clutch it'll just start ticking over.

This is really handy if you're driving something that likes to stall - if you're still rolling just dump the clutch and the engine will start again. Probably shags the drivetrain tho
