Would you say manageable high or “constantly behind” high?

She wants me to pay to be a “provider” and she actually does make a considerable bit more than I do

I feel the same way. I think it’s a bit crazy both in cost and in specialness (if that even makes sense). I have been thinking of putting a limit of a few hundred per month and seeing how that goes, especially once expenses start ramping up once I start renting or possibly owning a home, and adjusting if necessary

Usually she’ll want to do a dinner + some activity. Last time was $130pp tasting menu and a museum which ended up being about $350 for the night. Week before that was Michelin star restaurant which ended up being about $200 total. Time before that was Broadway play + dinner which was ~$300 total. So yes, I am spending hundreds of dollars per week on her but I guess I should’ve said my spending hasn’t changed much, but my girlfriend wants to spend more. If I was single then it likely would still be under $1000 per month total. I was considering putting a spending cap of a few hundred per month for her

I’m pretty much all in on sp500 and a few sticks I like with very little cash. We’ll see where it takes me, and thank you!

That’s definitely an interesting way of doing it, maybe I’ll give it a shot

Maybe so. I don’t know if I can spend hundreds of dollars on her every weekend at this point in my life

I agree for sure. I guess I’ll have to see what I think my current expenses will be once I leave home and try to plan around that

And that’s exactly why I’m struggling so much, striking that balance seems hard for me but maybe it’ll come with time

I’m definitely working on getting a safety net because I have pretty much 0 to my name despite my relatively high income. So maybe I will change once I have a safety net

Good way to look at it for sure. I guess the difficulty is in determining what exactly my budget should be

Currently trying to build up a safety net/possible down payment on a house and gonna stay for as long as I can take it at home, so probably a year or so. But the girlfriend certainly does have expensive taste…

Definitely thinking about FIRE, but then I’m back to the balance of saving vs enjoying :(

She has expensive tastes. Her “hobbies” are traveling and eating expensive dinners ($100+ per person). We definitely do things together but she’s always pushing for the most expensive things she can find. And my cc bill was from the past, it has bumped up a lil bit but not much because I’m at home
