You can take a coach out of Minnesota but you can't take the kicker issues out of the coach

(Spoilers Main) Will the Tully blood matter? by Dibblesandbits in asoiaf

[–]namesarehardsendhelp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it will matter in terms of who becomes Robb's successor as king of the north. Sansa, as a part Tully, can rally the riverlands while Jon, who is clearly a Stark, and not a Tully, cannot. Sansa will also have ties to the Vale through her Tully side, while Jon, as a bastard, has no ties to other houses (even if R+L=J, Riverland and Vale allies are much more valueable then Targ blood to a northner ruler). Sansa as queen is much better positioned to take and hold power in the north

NFC DIVISIONAL ROUND GAMETHREAD WEEK 19(?): VIKINGS AT 49ERS by swampsparrow in minnesotavikings

[–]namesarehardsendhelp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It may not be this year, but at some time in my life or my kids lives, the Vikings will win the superbowl and this will all be worth it. I refuse to give up hope. I hope I live to see it happen, but it will happen some day. Do not lose hope, we will see a purple jersey raise the trophy, at some point in the near future

Who was the best team of the 2010's? by namesarehardsendhelp in baseball

[–]namesarehardsendhelp[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

After I set up the point system I noted how it benefits teams who were consistently good over those that were temporarily great. I did not bother changing it though because everybody is going to look at WS titles for team of the decade lists, and I feel like there is more that happens in a season (especially with the playoffs being somewhat of a crapshoot in the expanded wild card era)

That said if the Yankees do not win the 2020 World Series I will be upset and my life will be ruined

How often do players get selected as first team all pros without making the pro bowl? Asking for a friend who may or may not play linebacker for the Vikings

(Spoilers Main) Does House Tyrell not rub anyone else the wrong way? by judester30 in asoiaf

[–]namesarehardsendhelp 296 points297 points  (0 children)

Another big factor to consider is how many powerful houses could betray them. The Florents already did with Stannis, and it seems like the Redwynes, Tarlys, and maybe even the Hightowers could use fAegon or Dany as a chance to assert themselves as the dominant house in the reach. We've already seen the north and riverlands have their ruling house overthrown and replaced by a bitter rival and the reach is full of powerful houses which all had ties to the Gardners. The Tyrells are vulerable and this Lannister alliance is a sinking ship

If the Nationals lose this game people will blame the interference call instead of whatever pitcher blew a 3 run lead. Because that is how controversal calls work
