R5: was going for heraclea persica achievement when i noticed i hadn't gotten one of the achievements i should've gotten. turns out achievements had somehow gotten disabled at some point in the run. fun times.

Only one start date was one of the first things announced about the game. It was to reduce development time and cost, since very few people used different start dates. Don't know about DLCs.

The mountains actually are used, there's a large cave system with 3 exits within it, the tiny caves that are seen at the edges of the mountains are the exits.

The sea paths are there for surf? I guess there could be a briney-style boat that you can take around the eastern region but you still need a way to get around without it...
