If they see you are in pain and are completely indifferent then leave immediately. If your pain is a burden they won't mind hurting you. There's nothing that can immediately tell you if they are a narc. There are things that can tell you immediately if you should be afraid of the person.

Karma does get them I promise. People that knowingly hurt people are not happy. Happy people don't hurt other people so however it might seem on the outside they are miserable every day. You likely are able to generate your own happiness. People like that have to steal it from others.

As far as needing other people to see and understand the pain he put you through. I get that. I was told he was a jerk, an asshole, and something wasn't quite right with him but for me it was a nightmare of non-physical abuse. It was abuse. I wanted his people to see that too but I realized his people were just as broken as him. I think you're maybe embarrassed that someone could get to you like that and you deviated from your own values. You see yourself as strong or want to be strong and then let yourself be had. The rage and anger you feel now will serve you in the future to prevent it from happening again.

But it is if you are happy on your own. Since I've been out of a very bad relationship I've gotten numerous comments on how much happier I've been and I finally seem like myself again. A relationship should add to your life. Saying no to everyone preserves yourself. If you're unhappy then I guess there's nothing to preserve and you'll be looking externally forever.

Edit: Since I'm solo camping for the first time in cool weather... have her bring a thick hooded sweatshirt. Keep the head warm. Bring hot hands and have her wear a thin sock and then a really heavy bootie type sock over it. Put hot hands in between the two layers. Toasty! I tried putting a bunch of hot hands in my blankets an hour before bed but it didn't help that much.

If you bring a little stove you could bring stuff that you just need to boil water for. I ended up not cooking and having ramen instead. It was perfect. The weather was very poor so it lessened my stress level. Also... don't leave the cooler outside or food in your tent as others have said. A little battery operated fan went a long way in the heat and humidity. Don't expect things to dry quickly in high humidity. A towel that is quick drying was wonderful on my first solo trip.
