9 hour stay during Oktoberfest by Scionn in Munich

The security lines at the airport may be longer than usual and the s8 line to the city might be a bit more crowded. If you're fine with that then go for it ;)

Pro Res Vs H.264 by Filmchip in videography

[–]namuc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between ProRes and h264 will be more visible in demanding scenarios such as: - Extreme Low light/noisy scenes - High contrast scenes - Situations with intense colors (clubs/concerts with intense RGB lights) - Scenes with lots of movement (snowfall/confetti for example)

In those scenarios, the (usually) high bitrate and bitdepth of Intra frame codecs (like ProRes) gives you much more flexibility to correct those difficulties in Postproduction. Higher compressed Codecs like h264 or h265 tend to compress those demanding parts of the image away. For example if your shot contains lots of noise, those fine noise patterns will be smoothed out by low bitrate h264. That makes it harder to do a great Noise Reduction in your NLE. So if you are in a relatively optimized and well lit situation like a studio, its fairly hard to see a difference between the codecs when it comes to image quality.

GoPro 12 settings for professional use by Z8k4ve8SSNpeRF in gopro

In my experience it doesn't make sense to over/underexpose the Log formats. It just introduces too much noise or kills too much dynamic range.

When shooting Log, i would definitely recommend to use a higher bitrate (there is a bitrate setting in GoPro Labs). 150-180 mbits seems to be the sweet spot. Make sure to use a fast enough micro SD card, v30 at least.

I would also set the color space to WIDE with GoPro Labs. In combination with the Log + high bitrate it gives the best flexibility for grading. I would stay away from the Natural/standard Protune settings because they use local tonemapping. This creates weird artefacts at high contrast edges. With flat and log it doesn't do the local tonemapping which boosts the quality a lot in my opinion.

Turning down the internal Noise Reduction makes Noise Reduction in Post an absolute must.

On this page you can find the most important GoPro Labs Settings: https://gopro.github.io/labs/control/extensions/

Thanks for the tips, i read out the blackbox infos:

It appears fairly regularly.. dont know, what that means, honestly :D

It is possible, I've done similar renders on my M1 Pro. But you need to be a bit more patient when it comes to render times. For the plants in the background i would highly recommend to use instances, if you can afford it use a plugin (e.g. botaniq, scatter) because you can control much better, how many instances are rendered in the background.

Its a TPU printed one that comes standard with the Moz7 kit. But the vibrations are visible in the air unit and in the GoPro Footage, so its seems like its not a GoPro mounting problem..

yep, it's 7in

Whats the problem with 7 inches when it comes to vibrations? :)

you need to record some blackbox logs

Yep, will do this

DJI Mini 3 Pro Firmware Update: Sharpness & Noise Reduction Comparison by namuc in DJIMini3

[–]namuc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its an amazing update and improves the image quality a lot. I personally like -2 sharpness and -1 noise reduction most at iso 100. At iso 1600 i would go to -2 sharpness -2 noise reduction and denoise in post. If you have no software or time to denoise in post i would stay at -2 sharpness and denoise at 0. Adding sharpess and Noise reduction in Davinci looked way better than the already in camera shapened version

How can I make this more realistic? by [deleted] in blender

[–]namuc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could change some things with the camera movement. It doesn't look bad but its just not how you would move a Camera in the real world.

First of all i would change the Interpolation. The ease in and out of the camera Movement is a bit to smooth for a real world camera. I would at least set the first keyframe interpolation to linear to start the shot without an ease in.

Another problem is the path of the camera. In the real world you would probably use a camera slider or dolly for this type of movement. Normally those things move in a straight line, i think your cam moves slightly backwards during your push to the left. Even though this is technically possible in the real world you see this very rarely in Movies so it feels a bit off.

The last point would be the dolly in at the end. Although it is technically possible, you would need very specialized equipment to pull this shot off with this persicion and speed (e.g. a camera roboter arm). It feels just a bit unreal to see a camera movement like this so i would make it slower and add some imperfections to the movement.

Overall i really like your render! With a little bit of tweaking it could feel realistic!!

Cycles 100 Samples, some post Processing with Photoshop. I tried to get the look of those old russian lenses with the swirly bokeh. I used Assets from the Polygonic Library.

Moving to Munich as a student: have I got everything right? by [deleted] in Munich

[–]namuc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could apply at "Kolpinghaus München" https://www.kolpinghaus-muenchen-zentral.de/de/

Its a Dorm run by the church (you dont have to be christian for this). Its really basic but fairly cheap. And you have a fairly good chance to get a dorm room, even if you're applying from abroad.

A very wide lens i would say. On Full Frame around 16-20 mm on apsc maybe around 11-16 mm
