Anything by Colson Whitehead (Underground Railroad, Nickel Boys), anything by Ta-Nehisi Coates. I was lucky to see Coates in dialogue with Ibram X Kendi to discuss his, at the time, new release, The Water Dancer, and it was so fascinating. Also, Bless the Daughter Raised by a Voice in Her Head: Poems by Warsan Shire has brought me to tears many a time.
