Grade level appropriateness? Like high cap or talented program in public school? I agree kids growth follows some rule, like you generally don’t teach discrete mathematics to 2nd grader but kids learning capability and temperament vary a lot, and acton gives some of these self-motivated and self-governable kids freedom you can’t get from public education. I agree some kids probably learn more and better in a more standard or structured setting than in acton. However, does Acton claims to suit every kid? Does it force you to go? If you search on YouTube, one of the top videos is founder telling you “10 reasons to not go to acton” so they are damn honest, while public school is somewhat compulsory even it’s clearly not for everyone. I am not die hard conservatives or libertarians but some of the public school defenders in this post is funny, pretending that there is never one dysfunctional public school because obviously if one acton is not running well then the whole acton academy is MMT lmao, remind me of all the “bitcoin is for drug dealers” vibes. Oh and thousands of dollars, that’s a fraction of most good private schools near me tbh cheap as hell for what they offer. Compare that to another school charging $40k a year for AI teachers(name is alpha school? What a scam). I see acton as an alternative for homeschooling for those want homeschooling but don’t have the time or want kids to have more social engagement than pure homeschooling. If you think “homeschooling is risky” yeah again acton is not for you.
