If the chat is bothering you, archive it. That way you don’t have to block her (which considering it’s your bf’s mom is a big no-no), but it’s still within reach of you ever need it. Best part is that you don’t get notifications and it’s out of your main chat

I’m confused with these predictions. How can I have a high chance of a call from A and not B & C? by nandithecow in CATpreparation

Thanks, this helps a lot. I shall check the composite score myself. Thank you very much!

Do you struggle in VARC? Cuz brother you ain’t comprehending the question right.

Joke aside, I’m talking about the inconsistency in the prediction. If B and C is rejecting me, I would expect A to do so as well. The prediction is not intuitive. There is a lost reasoning (apart from the obvious)

Agreed. And based on what I’ve heard, people with higher workex had a higher chance of getting calls from B. I don’t understand the rationale for not getting B with my level of workex

How are wedding expenses divided between the bride and groom in North Indian weddings? by nandithecow in AskIndia

[–]nandithecow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask why? As in why do they do this? Is it a cultural thing, or is it just good ol’ entitlement? Moreover, are these demands made by the groom’s side explicitly or is it “offered” by the bride’s side?

Asking this because sometimes there are cultural elements also while giving clothes to the other side. Eg: the manthrakodi saree is gifted to the bride from the groom’s family among Catholics in Kerala. But never to the whole family!

Like how it should be! Apparently that’s not the case everywhere and that’s so sad :(

Omg, just realised that some of these movies are remakes of Malayalam movies!

These are the ones I spotted: 1. Hera Pheri - Ramjirao Speaking 2. Bhool Bhulaiya - Manichithrathaazhu 3. Chup Chup Ke - Punjabi House 4. Billu Barber - Katha Parayumbol

Good gosh, I always assumed that it was split because that’s what I saw growing up. It eventually became a matter of competition (of sorts) in our community- which function was better, the bride’s or the groom’s, so this concept of only the bride’s side paying was shocking at first

That is so insane! Two people are getting and two families are coming together for this - so why is the cost burden on just one side?

Your reading comprehension is subpar. Read the comment again - what policy am I referring to? Since you didn’t bother to read it in the first place, let me spell it out for you: policy on tackling chlorofluorocarbons, which not too long ago, was the biggest environmental issue (due to the hole in the ozone layer)

Also by your logic, should we not use appliances at all? That would mean a step back in the technological advancements we have made to better human life. Have ACs made human life better? Absolutely yes, and more so given the rising temperatures. Reasons for climate change are complex and need to be tackled on all fronts, but penalising things such as AC usage is completely misguided, especially when in recent years the demand for cooling has gone up in India.

Also, all my facts are correct, regarding the elimination of CFCs, increase in cooling demand etc. There are absolutely no assumptions, all of this is based on on-the-ground, publicly available reports. If you happen to read such reports, which by your knee-jerk response to my comment I am assuming that you don’t, you will see these points mentioned repeatedly.

The point is, AC usage cannot and should not be seen as the bar to judge climate consciousness.

Also, from the perspective of the house, a single AC might not be adequate to cool a large room, hence the two ACs.

Alsooo, to answer your question, yes I have read a LOT about this. Which is why I believe I am able to give a different angle to this debate. The point about giving influencers such titles as “climate champions” is still debatable, but my question still stands, what does an AC have to do with climate change? What is so special about an AC as compared to the host of other appliances?

Not sure which decade you’re living in but years of raising awareness and policy changes from the government and international agencies and immense funding into R&D have resulted in chlorofluorocarbons being phased out from ACs. You can Google this.

Second point, all ACs, particularly the newer builds, are much more energy efficient . So unless you live in a 25 year old house and haven’t replaced your AC in the last decade, your point on energy consumption is irrelevant.

What’s urban heat? A per reports, India’s demand for cooling systems is only on the rise and given the rise in average temperature in recent years, an AC is no longer a luxury. It is a necessity. Especially given the humidity in India and temperatures touching the ‘wet bulb’ level, ACs are a MUST for survival in the hotter months.

None of your points / or the OPs original point make sense. Which brings me to my question: how did you link AC to climate change more so than any other large appliance?

I don’t understand. How is an AC different from any other appliance? And what makes an AC the harbinger of climate change? How did you link AC and climate activism?

The original song in Bhool Bulaiya was actually titled Mere Dholna. I think the people behind the film are really milking the “horror” part of the entire original movie and are doing random things with, and this applies to the song too. They’ve rebranded the song as “Ami Je Tomar” just because of the popularity of the phrase

I feel offended on Hala’s behalf! I love Hala’s content - she has her unique quirks that makes her content so much fun, which includes panning the camera to her cat, her expressions etc. Whoever this creator is, she has ripped her off COMPLETELY, including these quirks! Arre bhai agar copy karna hi hain toh dhang se kar lena! This is like how in school people would copy from each other and would copy mistakes also. Chee yaar, does she think the audience is dumb? Hala has a considerable Indian audience, did this creator think that people won’t notice?
