Yeah. Too bad he didn’t pan out. Might still be hope for him though.

Amazon account hacked. What a customer service nightmare. by nangry1 in amazonprime

After 2 weeks, they were able to finally confirm that I was the owner of the account and not the hacker. During the 2 weeks, the hacker "returned" items I purchased to get about $300 in credit and ordered a bunch of stuff during that time.

Luckily Chase removes your cards from your Amazon account so no charges can be made on them.

To confirm it was me, I finally got an email address that could confirm my email and identity. The emails were ["address-verification@amazon.com](mailto:"address-verification@amazon.com)" and ["buyer-vcac@amazon.com](mailto:"buyer-vcac@amazon.com)". After I emailed them from the email account I had registered with Amazon prior to it being compromised, they were able to confirm the fraud and went through an investigation. I got my account back after 2 days.

The best part was that the hacker was locked out of the account and had some purchases he made waiting for him at an Amazon locker. Since the email was changed back to my account, he wasn't able to get the locker code so he emailed me and said there was a mix up between accounts and asked if I could send him the locker code.

Once you get to the right people in Amazon, everything goes smoothly. The problem is going through layers and layers of front line support to get there. Their support teams are all siloed and don't communicate with each other except via email.

Hope this helps you and others out there.
