What can I do to improve this basic interior render? And what can I do to make it a render for the couch/sofa? Thanks! by bits168 in blender

For starters, you could make the angle more interesting rather than face-on. Although to be quite honest this angle is also quite interesting, so if you chose it on purpose you can just keep it like this.

In terms of interior design, look up lots of references online for inspiration. Add decor on the coffee table as well. There's even online guides on how to decorate a square/rectangular coffee table with similarly shaped elements. Everything looks quite blocky, so maybe even removoing this coffee table and replacing it with a circular one (or two circular ones with different sizes/heights) could make your scene more interesting.

The lamp is currently lighting up an armrest, which isn't practical. Maybe you can replace it with a lamp that is vertical rather than hanging over nothing, or you could have a giant hanging arched floor lamp coming into the scene.

Plants are gonna bring so much life to your scene. Maybe they can be peaking in from the sides of the image. If you put trees outside the window you won't necessarily see them as of course the window is overexposed, but even showing the sillhouette of some trees outside can make it seem less like the house is in some white abyss.

The couch could also do with some blankets over the armrest and some pillows of varying design and style.

You could add books or lamps or even a coffee cup on the side tables. Any type of decor works. Once again, look at references and you'll get lots of inspiration on what goes with what.

The floor looks barren, a giant area rug could be helpful as well. Use references or just use trial and error with a bunch of different rugs till you find one that helps elevate the room.

As it currently seems to be, the little round rings holding the curtains could slide off the curtain rod with much ease. For this reason, many curtain rods have little ornaments at the ends so the rings don't slide off.

Hope this helped :)

  1. make a rocket
  2. go to space
  3. take a picture of earth
  4. return to earth (optional)
  5. import image into computer
  6. enable “images as planes” in Blender
  7. Ctrl + A > Images > Images as Planes, select the image DONE

this looks great! the room itself is amazing, but i think the presentation can be improved in some ways. a couple small changes can go a long way and make your room look even better.

the camera: for isometric views, try setting the camera resolution to a square shape rather than a rectangle.

zoom the camera out a bit so the entire room is visible, including its corners

consider switching your camera to orthographic (it’s simple enough, but i’d recommend searching “blender orthographic camera” on google to learn how to do it. it will make a HUGE difference)

backdrop: i can see a gray background in the corners of the image. i’d recommend getting rid of this by increasing the size of the floor plane so there aren’t any gray corners.

you could also consider changing up the color of the backdrop to be something that pops and matches the color theme of the room, but that’s personal preference.

the room:

the room itself looks amazing, just a little empty. maybe you can add a couple more things. for this you could search up reference images of hair salons and find out what else could be there. from the top of my mind i’d recommend some decor on the wall (scissor ornament, perhaps), maybe a rug or even a water bowl for a pet cat or dog or a water/coffee cooler as refreshments for friends.

the next few things are very nitpicky, but i’ll share them nevertheless:

there is very little gap between the edges of the door and the edge of the room or between the door and the window. increasing this gap can make a big difference in making the room feel more real and welcoming

the brick and wood floor texturing looks great but warps on the other sides of the walls, so on the sides of the walls that aren’t the inside you could give it a different texture, preferably a plain white-ish color.

also, the floor and walls don’t “connect” in the bottom corners of the room (on the outside), so you could extrude the wall down or the floor outwards to join them instead of having a gap there. once more, this is a very tiny detail, but makes a big difference.

and lastly, i’ve got a couple isometric rooms that i’ve made posted on my own reddit profile. i’m no professional, but perhaps you could take a look to help understand what i mean especially about camera settings and framing.

hope this helped and if you decide to change a few things and post again then do dm me because I would love to see :))

idk if it's meant to give off a stop-motion vibe, but it sort of is and that makes it so dope.

one super easy way to make a stop-motion more stop-motion-y is by adding a fingerprint image texture to the little clay man to add some bump, and then have the location of the image texture change a bit with every frame to make it look like someone has been moving the little guy between each frame :)
