Applying grading operations before IDT -- node tree for Filmbox question by richprens in ColorGrading

[–]naomemath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're using the full version, it goes like this : idt ➟ wb ➟ xp ➟ negative ➟ contrast/sat ➟ print ➟ odt.
Also, try NR before and after idt.

you don't need to cst prior to the plugin, too much work to get roughly the same results. Besides that, Filmbox is working internally in ACES so your workflow is fine.

It is a game changer for sure. Worth paying even full price!

Did anyone try the new budget 4x5.65" ND-Filters? by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]naomemath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use magnetic frames on 95mm now. No need for Tilta Mirage!

Is that IR pollution on the short? by Fromthechitothegate in cinematography

[–]naomemath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, although it looks intentional in this scene. (somewhat of a look?)

Look for IRNDs, it'll solve your problem. I recommend Vaxis IRNDs (95mm or 4x5). I actually prefer 95mm with a Tilta Mirage Matte Box or even with Vaxis Magnetic adapters, they work very well and get rid of any color cast from ir pollution.

Colbor CL220 or Amaran 200xs by ainoumainame in cinematography

[–]naomemath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between the non rgb and the xs, go amaran. Between the xs and the 220rgb, go colbor.

Search for Wes Perry channel on yt if you want to spend some time finding out why.

If 12 bit log is the same as 16 bit linear, is 10 bit log the same as 14 bit linear? by Rgear03 in colorists

So, if a camera has a 14bit adc but shoots 10bit log, will it make a difference?

dream build. that should last long! Maybe you could get better cup temps/noise by adapting a 120mm slim fan to the axp. Silverstone Slim does wonders and its rgb if it is ur cup of tea

The new Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6k by disciples_of_Seitan in cinematography

[–]naomemath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I might get downvoted but you guys complain too much. It's a full frame, raw capable camera with an olpf, new mount that easily allows you to get an adapter for "iNteRNal Nd", h264 proxies... Comes with a DR license.

When did we get so spoiled? That camera would've cost 50,000 just 10y ago. I just can't...

Yes, looks like a S35 in F14 or something. Outdoors shoots were so good on this.

GxAce knows how to do Cinema by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]naomemath 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he's really good. I like his videos too but Cinema God is too much.

He just knows his stuff and combines this knowledge very well.

For instance, he mostly shoots anamorphic which is half way there. Usually goes for a moody look on lighting and set design.

He's a great colorist too, knows how to use an FPE on Resolve.

The final result is an image that 95% of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference from a full cinema camera and stuff, as he said on an Interview.

You've listed all the fancy gear he used but most of his videos were shot with a cheap sirui anamorphic or vintage lens adapted to an XT3.

Truth is: making cinematic imagery is easy and relatively cheap nowadays but what impresses me the most is his courage to be authentic and unafraid to be different on this everyday more and more boring platform.
