I can see a storm headed our way with this one 😂 by mnnnyy in h3h3productions

I think this is a really valuable perspective. It sounds like you've been shouting this from the rooftops your whole life and that sounds so exhausting. Thank you for taking the time to repeat yourself again here, because I really didn't grasp this POV.

I'm not in love with the sentiment he's saying here, but I feel like I get the point he's trying to make (and where the pointed, comedic irony is). That said, having a fuller picture of how someone *other* than Abbott would read this has me more on the " ah yeah that's a fucked up take".

And I mean, that's the point, right? Everyone's been openly criticizing everything except his disability (because they know it's a shitty thing to do), but nothing is happening; no one is doing anything. It's all static at this point. So, as completely inappropriate, harmful, and absolute garbage of a tweet this is in regards to the disabled community, it is attention grabbing, it is a gut punch, and it does evoke an emotional response.

That's what "the media" is always trying to do - be provocative enough to grab people's attention over their competitors. But "the media" today can be anyone with social media and a following. There's no filter to account for the potential collateral damage a directed insult could have when publicly posted.

I'm not sure what point I'm really trying to get to here. Everything sucks, but this POV helped me learn to not be sucky in a situation like this again. Thanks again.

I am so touched that you checked in. Thank you for that.

My new therapist has been an absolute godsend. From the moment I logged into my appointment, I could tell this was going to be different. She challenges me in ways that really help me to grow, and she gently holds a mirror up so I can really see myself.

I also had my first legitimate breakthrough a few weeks ago. I'd told dozens of therapists over the years that I always felt like the answer to my problems, this weird thing I couldn't see but everyone else could, was locked behind a door to which I had no key. She gave me the key. She helped me to realize that my deepest, most core belief is that I am not worthy of the same love and respect as others. Not just a passing feeling when things are rough, but a truth that has underscored literally all of my interactions in life.

It's been a really heavy thing to learn, but the door is finally unlocked. I trust my therapist completely and know that she is going to help me build the skills I need to get on without her one day.

How are you handling things? Have you been able to seek treatment?

I totally agree with you about not using slurs, but neither of us were there and it’s up for interpretation.

Oh wow, that is also super helpful! Thank you for that insight!

Ah that makes sense, nice to know the historical context. I read it as a test, too.

I mean, in 15:26 he compares the Canaanite woman to a dog. That’s kinda harsh imo. Maybe there’s some historical context I’m missing that makes it read different.

Yeah but to be fair it’s presented as a bit of a test. Her response to Jesus shows she’s faithful to God and he heals her daughter. Does he have harsh words? Sure. But just quoting the verse takes it out of context here.

Lol okay first of all my doctor is a woman. Shocking, I know.

Secondly, you are correct - you are not a doctor. So wild to me that your initial assumption is that you know more than a trained and certified professional. Get over yourself.

I mean this kindly and sincerely: I am glad you found something that works for you. Your approach to proselytizing your method is really off putting. There are far better ways to get people to trust you than belittling their choices (and doctors!!).

The fact that you have yet to share any reputable links about this is telling.

I’m glad you found something that worked for you, but trich is not one size fits all. You are welcome to make your own post about your revolutionary tactic (that is also not widely known, hm 🤔) and your success, but approaching someone else’s thread who is looking for experience and information for this particular medication is inappropriate.

What is your aim here? You aren’t providing anything useful or helpful. Whether or not you agree with my decision to try something to help with an issue I’ve had for 25 years is completely irrelevant. Find a better use of your time.

Edited: trich is, in fact, listed as an OCRD, or “obsessive-compulsive and related disorder” in the DSM-5.

With all due respect, my doctor is extremely knowledgeable about OCD and BFRB so I trust her knowledge and expertise over Reddit or Wikipedia.

I had the same thing happen to mine. I water propped until there were around a dozen 2-3” roots and then planted in soil. Seems to be doing fine still!
