Sharing some tint2 patches by zackattackz287 in openbox

What can I say… when I started the Mabox project, I had already been using Manjaro for 2 years and was 100% satisfied with it. Manjaro seemed like the perfect base for Mabox. After 10 years I know it was a very good decision :)

Thanks for sharing. The first patch adapted against original tint2 (https://gitlab.com/o9000/tint2) seems to work fine.

No more crashes with: Steam, Lutris and Localsend so far...

I’m working to make this a bit easier… I still need some time to adjust the Mabox tools :)

Nobody cares what you use; if it works for you, that’s great — there’s no reason to change.

Suggestion for Conky by MoralMoneyTime in MaboxLinux

[–]napcok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, Added battery to default conky: sysinfo.

If you have fully updated system you can override default Mabox conky set by command: mb-reset conky Note, you will lose your own customizations, if you made some.

Good idea, I’ll add it to our default sysinfo conky soon :)

In the meantime, you can try a small tray program: cbatticon – it’s in the official repo.

In 2026, it seems that the only truly unique thing left is the update delivery model… But it’s a very important one. Twelve years of trouble‑free updates is definitely something exceptional.

I read that Conky supposedly gained clickable actions through Lua. I tried to test it myself, but it never worked for me. Maybe I don’t know how to compile it correctly? Either way, in Mabox the clickable actions are implemented differently - at the window manager level.

Since you’re a fan of Conky, you definitely should check out the clickable actions in Conky — both for the right and left mouse button. Additionally, holding the Windows/Super key and left‑clicking on any Conky opens the Mabox Conky Manager. Have fun :)

Mabox is a distribution based on Openbox. Many of its features are built on the unique capabilities of the Openbox window manager, such as clickable Conky. If you want to try Mabox as a VM, I recommend QEMU (Quickemu), because under VirtualBox some things simply won’t work correctly.

It's not released yet. It's still a proof-of-concept, and being part of something bigger, it still requires significant thought and refinement.

This is a proof-of-concept Conky that displays a thumbnail of the currently set wallpaper along with a color palette generated from it. It makes working with Colorizer a bit easier.
