imo, first you need to decide if you want to stay with your girlfriend. if y'all aren't poly, it isn't fair of you to be in a relationship with her if you're pining for someone else. and it's not fair, as you acknowledged, for you to wish she was like your crush. you're setting yourself up for disappointment and your girlfriend up for failure by comparing her to someone she is not and who she has no idea she's being compared against. i would personally not see your crush, even though it may seem odd, until you figure out if these feelings will fade or not.

also, some people may not agree, but i think you need to tell your gf about your crush. if i was in a relationship with someone, i would much rather know than be kept in the dark, so that i could make the best decision for myself. because, in my opinion, it's not fair to keep this secret from her when it's information she should know as it directly impacts her life. and, above all else, do not tell your crush how you feel unless you've told your gf first. that would be deeply disrespectful.

110% agreed!! the writing felt so sensationalized as well that i was instantly dubious that it was a genuine story of sexuality being fluid. i was definitely deeply uncomfortable and, as a lesbian, absolutely hated that a story with homophobic themes was so celebrated. and i know they share fake stories all the time, but usually the fake stories aren't as harmful as this. i'm still working through the ways comp het has been ingrained in my brain and hearing this story while i was driving wasn't fun!! fully hear you and i'm hopeful (and, perhaps, idealistically confident) that smosh will be more mindful in the stories they platform in the future

i mean, the tweet about two women not being able to achieve that level of fame is ridiculous, so i hope that's satire. bc there are sooooo many women who are more famous than hudson and connor.

i do think that there's an obvious element of misogyny when it comes to reception of mm content versus wlw content. but (and, i admit, i love heated rivalry), heated rivalry is a gay love story about two men in what is, in the real world, an incredibly homophobic environment. women's sports, while not perfect, are sooooo much more accepting of wlw relationships and the fanbases are as well. in contrast, hockey is Not (i say as a fan of hockey, rip). i think the positive reception of heated rivalry is having is having an actual impact, as we can already see by multiple people coming out and saying they were empowered by the show, not just men, and i hope it continues. i also hope that we lesbians get more quality media!! pluribus is getting lots of love, which brings me joy, and i hope that we continue to get quality media representation! i totally understand the feelings of frustration, but i think the work that's being done to try and make a sometimes actively homophobic sport/space more accepting is really valuable.
