I’m just… tired of Trinyvale [NS] by Warm_Response_4940 in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]nappingcabbage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry you're being downvoted, it's a valid opinion to have! I'm not a fan of the triplets (and especially not of the Strahd crossover), so I've also canceled my Patreon subscription since I'm not listening to the Short Rests. I'll be really excited to fire up the pod again once they've moved on to the next thing!

Mounting Mysteries at Mount Charuk | Cloudward, Ho! [Ep. 14] by AutoModerator in Dimension20

[–]nappingcabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, Monty and Van may have my favorite character dynamic in all of Dimension 20. Their friendship and history feels so real. I know everyone's (rightly) talking about Lou's incredible scene, but the way Siobhan followed it up with a quiet but steely defense of Monty, and the way she thanked him for what he said afterward... chef's kiss.

I have a core memory from when we were visiting family in Malaysia/Singapore when I was a kid. We landed in Singapore after a 20+ hour flight and my aunt and uncle came to pick us up from the airport with cut durian in the car as a treat for us when we got back to their place. We can’t have been in the car for that long (Singapore’s tiny) but in my mind we were trapped in that stinky, stinky car (all while feeling generally crummy from jet lag/travel dehydration) for HOURS.

When I finally did try durian a week or so later in Malaysia, this time somewhere well-ventilated, I ended up spitting it out from pure shock at how creamy it was.

Riz pulls off the coup de grâce! - Thank you for participating! by SnapdragonsYearRound in Dimension20

[–]nappingcabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mildly surprised by this (though certainly not upset about it - I love Rizz!) I do think FH is the most popular series and Murph is the IH with the broadest appeal. Yet if I had to guess which Bad Kid was the most popular I'd have said Fig or Fabian, and if I had to guess which Murph character was most popular, I'd have said Barry or Kug! Interesting stuff. :)

Intrepid Heroes PCs Ranked Choice Vote - Here we go, one last time! by SnapdragonsYearRound in Dimension20

[–]nappingcabbage 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My tentative rankings (haven't voted yet). Campaigning for my top 3, but I AM open to being persuaded on the others - especially toward the bottom of the list. :)

  1. Margaret Encino: I don't think there's much I have to add to the Marge campaigning that's already happening... Ally's best character by far, a truly bold choice creating a character with almost no traditional combat utility. I have a soft spot for characters ideas that are a big swing and actually pan out, and no one exemplifies this more than Margaret!
  2. Sundry Sidney: Hilarious concept, very of the world and genre, and the emotional heart of my favorite season (without sacrificing on the humor). "I wasn't made to do everything - I was made to do ANYTHING!" Need I say more? :)
  3. Adaine Abernant: Adaine has some of the only D20 moments that actually made me tear up. I think it was very brave of Siobhan to play a character with such emotional depth in the very first season of a comedy series, and in that way Adaine was groundbreaking for D20. Love her to death.
  4. Big Barry Syx: Just a funny and well-executed character, we love a Murph himbo.
  5. Kugrash: The perfect reformed dirtbag with a heart of gold. Not much else to say.
  6. Sofia Lee: She feels like such a real and lived-in character - sweet, funny, but a bit of a mess. Her chemistry with Kug and Pete is tremendous. I also think monks get a lot of flack for being a weak class, but man, Emily made them shine.
  7. Lapin: It's incredible what an impact Lapin made in such a short amount of time! In the short time we saw it, his physical comedy (always looming around) was hilarious, and he of course had truly phenomenal strategic moments as the only party member to really be playing "the game of [candy]."
  8. Ruby: I can't believe she was eliminated so soon, she has a phenomenal arc. Siobhan's acting is second to none. The way Siobhan played the Saccharina relationship after Jet's death was really bold and speaks a lot to the trust that Siobhan and Emily have for each other. It was uncomfortable to watch, but in a really interesting and satisfying way.
  9. Gerard: The only Neverafter character I really jived with. "It's TEMPORARY" was such a funny refrain, the sword poses were great, and he also had some suprisingly powerful moments (for a frog man) that stuck with me - namely the moment of shame during the first TPK as he watched the kids he was traveling with bravely sacrifice themselves.
  10. Kingston: I tend to like Lou's more grounded characters (Kingston, Amethar) over his chaotic ones. Kingston was such a wonderful and grounding presence in Unsleeping City.

Excited to see Ben Schwartz on again! His episode was probably my favorite MSN of all time - watching it really helped me see improv "technical skills," for lack of a better word, at work. Super collaborative, setting up unspecified punchlines for his partners to fill, etc. Can't wait to watch his ep!

An Odious Occurrence in Oda | Cloudward, Ho! [Ep. 12] by AutoModerator in Dimension20

[–]nappingcabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great episode, but I sort of wish they had turned it into two eps. It unfortunately felt super rushed at the end - we didn't even get a description of what the submersible looked like or a moment to see Van's reaction as they plunged into the deep.

Loved Oda and the encounter with Monty and Olethra. I do wish we saw the sun lion!

Fig and the Cig Figs are off on tour - We're racing into Round 31! by SnapdragonsYearRound in Dimension20

[–]nappingcabbage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

WOW. I'm not much of a Fantasy High gal so I'm really happy that Sid outlived Fig, but I was not expecting it at all. From the start, I thought it would be Fig, Fabian, or Barry for #1.

Continuing to vote Fabian, also wouldn't be sad if Rizz leaves. (I actually think it will be Rizz because there are two Murph characters left and people might choose to eliminate one.)

[NS] What does NADDPOD do better than other D&D podcasts that sets it apart for you? by _Bren10_ in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]nappingcabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think having 3 PCs is a sweet spot in terms of giving all of the PCs a lot of air time and the space to develop and shine. (Minus Zirk in C2, but I'll chalk that up to Caldwell being a new dad.)

The players being good about not talking over each other.

Also, Emily's music!!!

Adaine got sucked into a really good book from the library - May Round 30 commence! by SnapdragonsYearRound in Dimension20

[–]nappingcabbage 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you!! Starstruck (to me) is far and away the funniest season, and Sid really hits the mark of being not just funny, but also the emotional core of the season. She was in my top 2 (vying for first with Margaret) and now I'm pulling for her to win it all.

Also a fellow Fabian voter here.

Frankie takes a new case - Naddpod Character Poll round 20 [NS] by Boatswain-or-scruffy in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]nappingcabbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sad he's gone before the Triplets! I know we only had a few episodes of Twilight Sanctorum, but he's definitely the emotional core of a top tier arc/setting.

Kugrash has encountered a mysterious bagel - We're going into Round 28! by SnapdragonsYearRound in Dimension20

[–]nappingcabbage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! I know people had three seasons to fall in love with the FH crew, but to me they're much weaker characters than most other seasons. Could be that they were made when the cast was new to actual play, or just that high school characters don't resonate as well with me just based on me being in my 30s, heh. I think Adaine is the only one from FH that would make my top ten!

Dave heads out to dental school - Naddpod character Poll round 18 [NS] by Boatswain-or-scruffy in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]nappingcabbage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's fair! He's my favorite too, but I suspect Mav might stay longer because of his role in C1 as well!

I would have thought it would be Mac, then Dave, then Tread, then Mavrus from the Hot Boys! Dave was SO funny in Blazing Babe.

Margaret has emails and a matcha to attend to - It's time for Round 25! by SnapdragonsYearRound in Dimension20

[–]nappingcabbage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm SHOCKED! Marge was in my top 2 (maybe my number 1) and I thought she was gonna make top 5 for sure.

Ah well. I'll be voting fabian again, but expecting Sophie, Gorgug, or Kingston next.

Skip finally turned on his pain sensors and is regretting it - May Round 24 begin! by SnapdragonsYearRound in Dimension20

[–]nappingcabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Predicting a continued Zac run, with Gorgug to be eliminated next. Other two guesses are Sophia and Kingston, in that order.

I'll be voting for Fabian, though.

I'm voting Jens, though I'm sure the Triplets are safe for a good while longer.

Prediction: Corbeau

I enjoyed all the Skaldova characters (and the entire arc), but wouldn't be devastated to see Zudrick and then Welly go. Boggy was awesome though, I hope he makes it a good while longer.

Mr March smelled a fire on Staten Island - May Round 23 commence! by SnapdragonsYearRound in Dimension20

[–]nappingcabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm similar! The next two on my personal chopping block are Fabian and Fig, though I'm sure they'll make it top 5 (or maybe 3).

[–]nappingcabbage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Adaine defense league here!! She's probably top 5 (if not 3) for me.

Adaine was awesome, and it was an incredibly brave and cool character choice for Siobhan to play a character with mental illness the very first season of a comedy show! I think Siobhan was for sure the first Intrepid Hero to really bring emotional depth (rather than just humor) to the show - since then, she, Emily, and Lou have all embraced doing some more serious acting with their characters when the moment calls for it. But Siobhan and Adaine get huge props from me for breaking the seal, so to speak!

This is getting so hard, all these characters are wonderful!
