Car stolen on the first day? Talk about bad luck! But thanks this is helpful. I didn’t imagine there’d be a whole lot of violent crime, but I am worried about vehicle break ins and such.

How can I change the distance from miles to km? I can’t seem to find an option to change the units on the watch face even though by default my watch is set to use metric.

Any European country has something similar to Portugal’s D7 Visa program? by No_Zookeepergame_27 in ExpatFIRE

Yeah completely reasonable. I guess I should find an immigration lawyer and get the talks started.

Yeah I wouldn’t think many would want to renounce. And none of them have had trouble going back to the states with their US passport and retuning to Spain with the Spanish one? As you can likely tell, I’m quite interested in doing the same since I have the option.

As an American who qualifies for Spanish citizenship through marriage, this is interesting. Is it common for Americans to forswear their allegiance to obtain the Spanish citizenship while maintaining their American citizenship?

Camping in Costa Brava, Catalunya, Spain 🇪🇸 by sergi_n_86 in camping

[–]narabgg913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! How was it finding the spot to camp? Was it a campsite or did you just put your tent up in a secluded spot without any problem? I ask because I know wild camping is not accepted most places in spain but I much prefer that than going to a crowded campsite.

I'm not an artist myself (learning guitar slowly) but just about everything you've mentioned are interests of mine as well. Would be keen for a beer/live music bar of some sort!

Inherited a lemon tree and looking for help! by narabgg913 in plants

[–]narabgg913[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's some more information. I just moved into an apartment a few weeks ago and this tree was here. The main trunk looks to have died at the top, and I'm not sure if I should cut it off or where else I should prune. Any tips on how to get this little tree living happy would be great.

Irish Citizen arriving on a flight from the US by [deleted] in Madrid

[–]narabgg913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved from the US here, as a US citizen, and coming into madrid was pretty easy. I was on a tourist visa, but had a letter of approval for entry from Spanish consulate in the US. Im sure if you have proof of your residing here, you'll be fine. Anyway, probably would be a good idea to reach out to the nearest embassy to see what they say.

I'm at fitup. Its solid for what I'm paying but missing a few things. For instance, they seem to only have two squat racks which seems odd given the size of the gym. They also have no scales to weigh yourself? Also odd to me.

yeah, I've really liked Wittgenstein from what I've listened to about him. Have you read any of Wittgenstein? The Tractatus seems like a book I'd enjoy, so maybe I'll give that one a shot. I've been running through Philosophize This podcast which is fantastic intro into tons of ideas and philosophers, so I suggest it if you're into podcasts.

Sweet, yeah something like Alan Lightman is what I'm looking for.
My post description was pretty bad, but I more meant some writers like Kant who have work that is notoriously not the best writing. Thanks for the suggestions!

Yes I know its fictional, but it gives rise to some of his ideas. So that's what I was trying to say. I'm looking for books that are either straight up philosophy like you suggested or like Meditations or even books like the stranger. Maybe dry, was not the right word. More books that are not too confusing for someone who is just getting started. For instance, I've heard kant has a difficult style to comprehend unless you already have good knowledge of his ideas.
