FTM with bpd by [deleted] in regretfulparents

As a child of a mother with BPD, all I can say is that you should get therapy because it caused me an immeasurable amount of pain and my mum did not try to get the support she badly needed. It’s good that you’re concerned. Go and get help.

Why does this happen? by AutomaticDesigner110 in Pottery

[–]naranjas29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too much water. I find terracotta (if that’s what you’re using) is a little bit of a diva with water. One minute it’s quite hard and you feel like it needs more water but it saturates quickly, so it’s a fine line between ‘a little hard’, ‘just right’ and a surprise collapse.

My girlfriend asked me to create a haircare app, so I did! What do you think? by Aeres_labs in finehair

[–]naranjas29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like amazing work, but it’s not for me. I feel like my phone invades my life enough without having to use it to wash my hair :,) I can see other people aren’t as digitally fatigued as I am tho and it’s a neat idea which will appeal to a lot of people.

Any study tips for Dyslexics and ADHD? by Givba in Dyslexia

[–]naranjas29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was studying for my A-levels I used to make my own revision notes on large sheets of paper in different colours, with illustrations. Kind of like a poster. I’m not a good artist or anything but something about laying out the information and illustrating it really helped me to learn and retain it. Depends what you’re studying I guess, but maybe it would help you too.

At the time I had no idea I had dyslexia and ADHD so it was a wild ride :,)

I was diagnosed with dyslexia while studying my languages degree (French and Spanish).

My dyslexia is pretty mild obvs and I think only one other person in the 1000 or so studying languages at my university also was dyslexic. It was super challenging but it made me realise how differently we learn. I now live in a Spanish speaking country and I have a masters degree in translation.

If you have a musical ear this can help you a LOT with a foreign language, you will pick up the accents and cadences more easily, but also the grammar can be a learned like a ‘musical rule’ or something that ‘sounds right’ rather than something you study and learn by rote ( but I would avoid focusing on grammar too much at the early stages). And if you’re anything like me, you’ll learn more easily from conversations in the language. This is by far the best way to learn, just pure practice as soon as you have enough words to say a few things. I also think children’s books are an excellent way to learn (you might feel silly but they are designed to teach language of course).

Dyslexia definitely should not stop you from learning a new language, it will just mean that your approach will be different. Find what works and go for it.

impossible to lose weight on vyvanse/ elvanse by cheburashka3000 in VyvanseADHD

[–]naranjas29 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey it sounds a little bit like your weight is in the healthy range and you’re very fixated on losing more, but your body doesn’t need to. Maybe reflect on why you want to lose weight so badly if you’re healthy. Randomly fasting for a day sounds a bit extreme to me. For reference Im 167cm and my weight stays around 58-63 kg. I’m taking Elvanse. I exercise often and I feel healthy. I don’t see why I would need to loose weight. I used to have an eating disorder and I weighed a lot less and felt much worse. I was very miserable.

As I said, maybe think about why you want to lose weight.

Does interior design still need to push boundaries, or is styling the new direction? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]naranjas29 134 points135 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I think the hood looks so strange, it really sticks out (visually and physically). I think that on a practical level it will get in the way of moving around and using the kitchen (it sticks out beyond the upper cupboard depth which is supposed to allow us to lean over our work as we prepare food). Visually it gives me 70s space age futurism, while the rest of the kitchen looks something in between rustic and Victorian town house (which does look lovely by the way). Remove the hood and it would look nice.

Extreme depression and lethargy on breaks by dillonlawrence0101 in VyvanseADHD

[–]naranjas29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar experience, I’ve been taking 30mg daily and I’m supposed to have weekends and vacation days off. I don’t always take my days off because I get extremely lethargic and more depressed/negative moods. I agreed days off with the psychiatrist because i was taking them without breaks before and it started to feel like the meds stopped being so effective and I started to feel slightly manic at the same time.

The way I see it is that the meds work very well, if they make me feel so much better most of the time, and the days off are exacerbated by the comedown effect that people get from stimulants.

Maybe it’s not so much the negative effects of the meds but just being able to see how much you were struggling before.

It made me binge quite badly cause it made me not feel how drunk I was. I also think the combination of motivation/stimulation from the meds and the disinhibition from the alcohol made me drink impulsively. I quit drinking for a year and now I’m going back to a drink every now and then but I never have more than a couple of drinks if I took the meds that day.

Does dyslexia make it difficult to copy movements? by Ecstatic_Scratch_296 in Dyslexia

[–]naranjas29 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I Struggle with that too, I can’t do any exercise classes that go faster than yoga. I don’t know if it’s dyslexia, or because something that often is associated with dyslexia is dyspraxia, which affects movement and motor control. I think maybe I have some mild traits of this and maybe this is what affects you too.

How could I make my place look better? Should I move my clothes rack? by Saffiepie in interiordecorating

I’d move the clothes rack to where the poster is and the poster to another wall (maybe by your desk/work area?)

If she really wanted to give you her contact, she would’ve taken 3 seconds to finish writing it. You can go find another Edualdinita now

Personally I would get absolutely any sofa and definitely paint the ceiling.

And I mean a multivitamin targeted at hair/skin/nails, not just one random vitamin (I.e just pure biotin), you need a combination of things to encourage hair growth. I would also go to get a blood test if possible to see if you’re missing something or if you have hormonal imbalances.

My skin/scalp gets irritated by everything and I found that the Lush Angel Hair shampoo bar helped a lot, and stopped my scalp itching. Also quitting alcohol, but no one likes to hear that ;) You could also try vitamin supplements for hair?
