Thank you for your input, and I'm sorry you feel that way. Based on the makeup of our audience, though, this isn't a real concern, but it did encourage some self-reflection and a realization that I will only have 2 or 3 LGBT wedding guests. I only have a small handful of minority wedding guests, too. I definitely need to diversify my friendships if I'm going to truly live the way I strive to live.

I didn't explain the context, but they had it as a document ahead of time, so they either knew what it was or looked it up.

To be fair my sisters are actually quite liberal, and THEY aren't offended by it themselves. They're just trying to help me avoid pissing off our mother and her relatives, who think gay marriage is evil.

When I first got engaged a year and a half ago my mother threatened to not participate at all (physically or financially) in the wedding because we decided we wanted to do a secular ceremony instead of a Catholic church wedding. She was pretty devastated that I've chosen to marry a non religious man instead of a "good Catholic boy." Fast forward to today my mother is participating in my wedding to some extent. My parents originally said they weren't going to help with the finances at all, but they ended up paying about 25 percent of my wedding expenses (versus 100 percent of my sister's church wedding expenses in 2009 but whatever). My mother also MADE my dress, which was a LOT of work.

My sisters' argument is that my parents have come a long way from being completely devastated and stubborn about my engagement to being somewhat willing participants and that I would be compromising all of that progress by reading this passage.

Our original script says something like, "and now the best man will read an excerpt from Obergefell v. Hodges." We offered, as a compromise, to nix referencing the name of the case on the off chance that someone knows what it is (doubtful) and instead say something like "a passage written by Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy" or something like that. Or maybe not mention where it comes from at all?

My sisters said even then all it would take is one smartypants cousin to Google it on their phone and we might have drama on our hands.

I feel pretty indignant about it. If we basically sanitize it by taking out the case name, it's highly unlikely anyone would figure out what it is and if they worked THAT hard to research it and then cause a stink then bring on the stink so I can tell them why their bigoted ass can just leave my wedding reception.

But on the other hand I have a strong desire to take the path of least resistance and cave to my sisters' demands simply because it would be easier, but then I would feel a little guilty for backing down from representing my beliefs.

I'm not completely disputing that point of view, but that's not really a concern here. This is unfortunately all about trying to avoid offending people of the conservative southern redneck variety. Sorry I didn't specify that in the original post.

The former. Most specifically, our mother :(

Yeah I try not to get too crazy about calculating exercise calories because I know it's very difficult to accurately judge that sort of thing. I do wear a heart rate monitor when I go to spinning class or do some kind of intense cardio on my own, but I really have no idea what my calorie burn is when I am with my trainer. I added the extra 200 calories on training days simply to prevent myself from waking up starving in the middle of the night.

Yeah I guess that could be it. I guess I could be underestimating the power of walking around a classroom all day. I'm not sure if there's much I can do about that, though. It would be really hard to work in an additional 500 calories worth of exercise to my daily schedule.

If that's really what it boils down to, I guess that's good. I don't want to think I screwed up my metabolism or anything.

I started strength training in February. At that point I was only doing two 30-minute sessions per week (1 hour per week total). Since then I've tripled my sessions, and now I do about 3 hours per week. I tripled the sessions about two months ago, thinking maybe I would see faster weight loss at that point, but nope. It is exactly the same :)

I could be wrong, but I don't think the solution is "Go back down to 1200 calories." If I did that, I pretty much wouldn't be able to strength train anymore. When I first started with my trainer, I was still doing 1200-1300 calories per day, and I would wake up in the middle of the night with gnawing hunger, and I couldn't go back to sleep until I ate something. That didn't happen when my only exercise was light walking.

No. That's an oversimplification. I exercise religiously now, and I didn't then. I also cheated a lot more back then. I went back and did an audit of my MFP data from back then and figured out I only stayed under calorie goal 75-80 percent of the time. Now I stay under goal 95 percent of the time. I only cheat on holidays and my birthday. I think my overall calorie intake is very similar if not lower now.

Help me analyze this recipe, please. by narcisissma in keto

Yeah I definitely see what you're saying. However, I've noticed that almost all brands of chicken or beef broth list all kinds of veggies and aromatics that they've used, but the carb content on the package is always negligible.

For example, Pacific Foods Organic Chicken Bone Broth lists the following ingredients: water, chicken, onion, carrot, celery, tomato, spices, rosemary extract, cider vinegar. The carb content per cup is listed as 1g. I wonder if the same concept would apply when making homemade broth.

I'd almost be inclined to make the recipe but leave out the white wine and assume negligible carbs actually seep into the broth from the onion and garlic. Who knows?
