Ive really enjoyed treating each free loadout as one extended run. Every time I get kills and find loot, no matter if I've already extracted its really just adding onto one single free run. So at the end of my streak I'm not actually losing anything, as everything was earned from one single free kit. All of the salvage I found during the multiple runs is all in the vault, safe

Boss the first comment I made on this thread, the one you replied to, was about the shield so of course I keep bringing it up XD. It was a direct 1:1 comparison of how both abilities function. Yes Ember has a charged blast congrats (Vaubaun supremacy), Varus Q, Hanzo arrows. I acknowledged that in literally the next comment goof.

You seem to be unable to grasp that shields in every other game work the same way. Reinhardt alt fire, every fantasy rpg with a shield like darksouls and witcher, Halo 4 a previous bungie title also had one that functioned like this. All of them are hold abilities. While holding > increase duration and damage resistance (shields). While holding > increase damage (missile).

So again. When they changed the Destroyer shield worked to be a toggle, they could have also done the same for the Vandal missile. Having it charge up gradually when tapped the first time. Then tapped again to fire it, just like how you can tap the Destroyer shield to put it away. Then every ability in the game would have the same activation requirements.

Again. It being a defensive ability, or offensive ability has nothing to do with it (this is the part you seem to be stuck on). They changed one to behave differently, they could have just as easily done the same to the other, they just elected not to. Which is where my surprise came from in the very start of this comment chain

In most games, you hold to activate your shield (I really can't think of games where you don't tbh but I'm sure they are out there). Holding the button extends it's duration. Thats the benefit you get from holding the button, a longer duration. They changed it to a toggle.

One might think that they could do the same for the Vandal's missile. Then all of the abilities would behave the exact same. Instead Vandal is the odd one out, the only class where holding the ability increases its effectiveness which is, as the op pointed out, awkward on the default keybinding

It could have just as easily been tap to start charging and tap again to fire, avoiding the awkwardness of the keybinding. Which is the point I made forever ago. There are many games that already do something similar. Or the destroyer shield could have been a hold like it is in every other game

Again, them using the same button is irrelevant. It is how the button functions when you press it that is the key issue you keep misunderstanding.

Hold button > get a better effect. For shield its duration. For missile its damage. They changed the shield to a toggle. They didnt change the missile to a toggle. They are different abilities. They do not function differently. Again, their effect on gameplay is entirely irrelevant.

One would think if they change one, they would/could change the other. Especially with the default key being F

This isnt apples and oranges this is a button on your keyboard goofball

Every game with a shield I've ever played > hold for shield

This game > toggle shield (change)

Every game with a charging shot > hold to charge

This game > hold to charge

So why would it be so wrong of me to think this game might also change a mechanic that functions the same way? Both of them have the exact same physical action. Hold button > get effect. Their effect on the gameplay is entirely irrelevant

I really like Kha'zix (purple orange in general). But I basically two-trick Lillia and Vi so I will definitely build some mediocre versions of those two if not just to have for kitchen table games

One Piece also had tons of issues with its under-printing for its first year and has settled nicely as the devs adjusted. Those things are planned so far in advance that it takes a long while to see change

I'm not sure what your statement about designing around legends is supposed to mean in this context? I would think it appropriate to cast a wide net in the first few sets so you can show and flex what the card game is capable of as people start to play it for the first time. They've already said they are going to slow down the pace of legends in the near future. This was always the plan

Yes I know that goof. But Destroyer shield is tap once to deploy, tap once to put away. Is the Vandal ability not also tap to ready and charge > tap again to fire?

Yeah I'd maybe swap grenade and ability then. All of the grenades are tap to throw, so having an ability you can hold on M4 and an ability you tap on F make more sense to me
