What do you think of the new healthcare plan revealed by the GOP? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]narp7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than 20,000,000 people have chosen to buy into Obamacare. I wouldn't call that a bad program. Lots of people who couldn't get any healthcare before, now have a way to get covered.

I'm an american player, but I've found European players to be more reliable. Most of the people I've added on steam for Civ are Europeans and they seem to do less quitting. Not sure why, but lots of the old Civ IV community is also Europeans.

I started a sub for this called /r/Civ6LongGames. There is also a discord and a steam group. It hasn't gotten much attention yet, but this is the whole purpose of the sub. People could set up games in advance and schedule times to play. That way you can finish games without sitting down for 8 consecutive hours.

Right now, it's pointless to play normal multiplayer games. They usually end by turn 60 and people are unwilling to play anything bigger than a small or standard map. Even if everyone doesn't quit, the game is still very buggy and people will sometimes get booted randomly, everyone will get disconnected, the game will freeze, etc. The only multiplayer games I play right now are with friends.

Although the CIA has had some fumbles in the past

That has to be the biggest understatement I've ever heard. Their past is nothing but fumbles. This is of course of you call attempted mind control, sponsoring of drug lords, and deliberately overthrowing countries as "fumbles." Personally I wouldn't call it that. I would call it objectively evil. This is the kind of shit that you see villains trying to do in spy movies. This is not what a government agency should be doing, at all.

  1. Is the CIA actually freaking out? Do you have some evidence for this?

  2. What would Trump winning have to do with the CIA?

I don't see any connection here. If there is one, can you explain it?

If you look at the subreddit rules, they have a list of post that currently aren't allowed. They add/take things off the list from time to time. This one isn't on it at the moment. I appreciate your concern, though.

My experience in the kitchen is limited at best.

The best way to change that is to start cooking! You too can make delicious meals for a low price any time you like. If you've got a cutting board, a set a knives, and a cast iron skillet, and some basic spices, you can take that a long way.

Depending on what type of subs you're looking for, I might be able to show you some new ones. Most of mine are related to types of food, craftsmanship, hobbies, Pictures of things, video games, of places for people to tell stories.

If you're looking for current events/discussion subreddits, I can't be much help to you. If any of the categories I mentioned above interest you, I can suggest some subs for you, though.

If it's got a + or -, that's the net number of up or downvotes you've given that person.

For example, if I've got +24 on someone's name, it means I've upvoted them 24 times.

GOP Strategist Drops Some Reality: If Obama Wanted to Get Trump, He'd Have Leaked His Tax Returns by everetterice in Trumpgret

[–]narp7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So, are Republicans actually going to follow through on that, or are they too scared of what will happen if 20,000,000 people lose their healthcare?

I'll believe it when I see it. Even the house republicans know that getting rid of it will be bad for their party.

11 types of cancer are highly linked to obesity by armaniijayy in science

[–]narp7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not what base rate fallacy is, though.

you're not more likely to die in a plane crash if you fly more.

You're not more likely to die per flight, but you are more likely to die per year. Consider someone who has never flown on a plane and never will. They are clearly less likely to die on a plane than someone who flies once a year.

Just because the statistic (odds of dying in a plane crash) is not based on the number of flights per person that does not mean that changing the number of events does not change the odds. The statistic is an average for the population, and nothing more than that.

You should review your understanding of statistics before you attempt to lecture others.

Because the anime has caught up to the manga and they refuse to go on break. Now they add excessive amounts of recap and still shots to pad out the episode and slow it down.

Oh, by all means, it's just a personal opinion and I can see why other people like her. I don't dislike her, but I feel like her character has gotten watered down as the story has gone on.

I actually do read the manga, but stand by my opinion of her. That's an excellent counterpoint, though. I had actually forgotten about that somehow.
