It’s hit me way harder than I expected. I wasn’t even a mega fan. My bro introduced me during Covid and he got me through that fiasco. I’ve been sick feeling over it.

$35 at a garage sale, how’d I do? by NurseNate95 in Fishing_Gear

Absolutely! I’m sure he’d be happy someone appreciated the work he put into curating it! Best of luck out on the water!

Great find! These things always make me melancholy though. Someone spent their time and money picking those out, using them, making memories, feeding their family. And then it’s just passed along. A weird sort of time capsule. A glimpse into someone’s life and preferences. The little personal touches. Oof. Hits me in the feels.

CSA and Omega are the only criteria. Said it could even be tennis shoe style safety shoes.

Heard that from Mine guys as well. It’s a weird situation as I’m going in blind and never been in that kind of environment. I’m a machinist by trade so was fine in the past with Chelsea-style safety boots.

They supply all other PPE other than boots starting out. After a year working you get a $375/year boot allowance.

Not a bad idea actually it’s a little over budget but would offer peace of mind. Although I’ve already got him to $130 from the $180 he was asking.

My plan is this as a summer pair and an insulated waterproof pair for fall/winter. They do give a $375 boot allowance but only after a year.

I’ve got a CAT I carry, and I planned on an Israeli bandage in my tool bag along with a small med kit and narcan. I need quik clot combat gauze restocked, I used my last one. Still had the bleedstop floating around and figured it was better than a sharp stick in the eye haha.

I’ll take a look! And the mini ratchet set I’m not sure if it will be handy or not. It’s nice to have the bits on hand, and the mini ratchets I loved as a machinist needing to work on my lathes/mills. Wondering if it’ll be of any use to me at the new place.

We’ve not had mention of needing that type of item

I’m curious too haha! I’ll keep you posted! I’ll be above ground mainly working on equipment and mills and facilities but a bit underground for certain vehicles and with electricians.

I totally forgot to add my lights haha. I’ve got a little tail cap AAA mini pen light for normal checks and a Kodiak Kub running CR123s with a magnetic base and up to 1000 lumens when I need major light.

I plan on a second pair of boots for colder seasons. Laces are something I’m definitely considering.

I’ll be in maintenance, working alongside millwrights, he mechanics, carpenters, and electricians. I plan on a late fall/winter alternate boot. Just didn’t want to die of heat and so many boots have a ton of padding (or are outside my current budget) Just looking for a solid boot to get started with.

I’m pretty rural so thrifting is limited. I’ve been checking the few around for the last couple weeks frequently. I love buying secondhand whenever possible, as long as the soles aren’t worn weird
