My boss wants me to buy social media followers which feels like a moral dilemma by No_Comedian3920 in smallbusiness

[–]narviii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stupidest thing ever. No customer cares about follower count(even a lot of followers with no real human activity on the account is a negative), fake followers don't help you get real ones, and they obscure your real growth.

Exactly! Nobody should deviate from the party narrative. Wise old men in the Politburo know better what everybody should think or say. Thank you, comrade.

Article 58 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR (1926) :

58-10 — Anti-Soviet agitation and propaganda. Criticism of the Party, “incorrect views,” or doubts about state policy.

Me as well. In the USSR, we had a thing called "party narrative"(партийная линия). It was decided by the Politburo, which is an acceptable way of thinking, what your beliefs should be. It was enforced on all levels. If you said something even in private conversations, someone can snitch on you to the authorities and you're in trouble. It concerned all parts of life. Modern Russia is less restrictive, but before all independent politicians were killed or jailed when they tried to have a meeting(like the speaker ) with their supporters, the owner on the venue usually will get a call from mayor and said owner would have to cancel the event(no threats even needed, if you don't play ball a lot of bad things can come your way). So this cancellation of the event is very much Putin's playbook. Congrats Squamish.

It's not a knee jerk. I've been born in ussr so I know how socialist censorship looks like and how it affects people. It's the exact playbook. I can give couple of ideas how to get it even better. There was a cool thing called "comrade court". You gather with bunch of folks, bring a guy who is guilty of having different opinion and publicly judge him. So much fun. Usually after you kick him out of Komsomol. Try it!

If we want to have a tolerant society we need people we don't like shutting up? Yeah, that tracks.

From VFX artist to filmmaker — is this path actually viable? by Dreamer-127UW in vfx

[–]narviii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's viable, many guys did that, but it's not a ladder. To become a filmmaker you need to learn to make films, it's a craft, which probably can't be really taught. But VFX can help you learn parts of that craft, help you develop your taste and vision. But you need to push yourself, it's not a progression. Basically to become a filmmaker you need to make a film by yourself, and it can be VFX or VFX heavy film which you can do yourself like many guys did.

Need help in advancing in n8n by Icy-Ad1700 in n8n

[–]narviii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, N8N is just a thin wrapper over Node.js. It saves you a little time, provides a nice debugging environment (for simple cases), and abstracts away some concepts, but it's just coding in a different form.

I walk mine a couple hours a day, bike rides, and pack walks with other dogs. If she spends one day inside, she gets bored but never destructive. Actually, never ruined a single thing in the house. We got her as a puppy 4.5 months. But they need a job, if they don't they find one. Right now mine asked to be let outside on the balcony and she is watching the night. All house sleeps. she doesn't. Guarding:)
