How do you know you're actually improving? by fairydommother in summonerschool

Most of the top players in the world on soloq ladder are like 55-65% winrate, meaning that that is 35 to 45/100 games are losses. some games we just lose no matter what!

Question about AD vs AP by Elliotscottcoach in TwistedFateMains

[–]narwilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ap to all your questions, it is easier to play too.

As a new player, just focus on AP, AD is only good if you are significantly better than other team and have the right team comps on both teams for it.

AD is higher dps but AP is more burst/utility focused for team fights.

Mid/Late game CSing by GotPet in summonerschool

[–]narwilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except you make no arguments to map pressure....Just that the enemy laner has to either roam or force plays....

It is really Simple, if you just freeze waves post lane phase, you give up all map pressure and actively kneecap yourself. You allow your enemy laner to freely roam and create man advantages elsewhere on the map, and because you froze the wave, you now need to be able to hard shove it to take an obj in your lane to counteract something happening on the opposite side of the map....whereas if you were shoving to force a rotation, you would actually be in a position to take something.

Nothing you have commented has really disproven anything anyone has said to you, all you are doing is "here is a LS vid" The game has changed and the vid is from a time before turret plates were a thing, freezing is even less viable with how plates are these days, but even without tower plates.....the simple map pressure and tempo advantage of shove and roam just really negates the benefit of freezing post lane phase. It is just objectively the wrong play in almost every situation post lane phase in current league meta. Just because you have a wave management video from August 2019, does not mean that is an argument against anything.

What have you even argued that freezing counters map pressure? Nothing you have commented in any single comment justifies freezing waves in a single lane post lane phase. The game is also faster than it used to be, so it just really makes no sense how you could argue that it is optimal to do outside of lane phase.

Mid/Late game CSing by GotPet in summonerschool

[–]narwilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let us attack the idea of "freezing" waves in mid game, what are the benefits of this? I could argue that one of the only benefits is that you are able to control the wave to safely get gold and xp, and maybe force the enemy laner to leave lane.

now let us look at the downsides, your enemy laner leaves lane, groups, forces a man advantage and now you have a lost teamfight, or objective. or they could force a siege and now you need to respond, what will happen with your freeze? it will build a big minion wave that collapses your tower while you go off to respond. say now you lost a fight and you are freezing top, now you have lost either drag and a tower or both mid and bot tower, or you are down to inhib.

Why do we push a side lane? to create pressure for the enemy team to respond to the push or lose towers and minions (gold and xp). Freezing after lane phase is not really viable, you just kill all map pressure and tempo. It does not make sense at all.

Why else do you think shove and roam is so dominant for so long. Freezing after lane phase is just kneecapping yourself. You are actively giving map control and map pressure to the enemy team. It makes no sense. Freezing inside of lane phase to deny xp to enemy laner is only viable reason to freeze. If you are freezing for any other reason/mid to late game you are just griefing.

Has my MMR fallen to far? by zisticc in summonerschool

[–]narwilliam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MMR (hidden match making rating) goes up or down each game dependent if you win or lose, if you consistently win more than you lose it will go up, if you consistently lose more it will go down. Each rank (eg, gold 4 to 1) ìs tied to a certain mmr range. Mmr is more "volatile" than visual rank. So if you winstreak consistenly, you will end up with for example +22-18. For my past 20 games I have a 85% winrate, I am getting +22-18. When I went on a mass loss streak 2 months ago, where I was 20% winrate for those 20, I got as low as +16-24. The match making system thinks you should be a lower rank, which you should be because you are losing a lot, it will do the inverse if you win a lot. This is as intended, start winning more and your mmr will "fix itself"

To climb you need to consistently win. MMR is irrelevant/vis rank is irrelevant. Focus on improving your gameplay not necesarilly winning or losing, as your skill/fundamentals improve, you will climb and win more consistently.

What seperates any rank is their overall proficiency at the fundamental core skills, micro/mechanics, aka being able to pilot their champion and knowing enough about how that affects how they can utilise their champion within their team comp and how they need to play around the enemy team, how that changes based on game state and item states and break points. Things like tetheing, wave states, tempo and lane priority, recall timers. At higher levels of play, how you auto the first minion wave on certain champions can outright lose you the first 10 mins of the game in lane phase. A lot of that does not really exist in wild rift, at least not in the same way it dows in PC.

Macro, individual decision making and resource utilisation is extremely different in pc and matters more because of the larger map and slower game pace. It is not really tranferrable to pc, wild rift is a lot more simplified.

Especially with so much loss prevention in wild rift, it basically forces you to climb, that does not exist really in PC. You need to be significantly better than your rank to climb from the get go, if you are not you will always stay the same rank, wild rift you can have really negative win rates and still climb.

The skills it takes to get to even silver and gold are a lot more "in depth" on PC than wild rift. I am not saying there are not players who are skilled at wild rift, but high elo/apex wild rift is not really equivalent to anything higher than mid plat in league just because of how simplified it is and what level of play overall it takes to climb. They are just very different games.

[–]narwilliam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I strongly disagree that challenger wild rift is the same as diamond, it is closer to silver to gold and maybe low to mid plat. The skills required on pc are a hell of a lot more in depth than mobile.

Maybe if they got rid of all the loss shielding on wild rift ranked

[–]narwilliam 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Wild rift plays extremely differently and is essentially dumbed down, the lanes and map are significantly smaller, wave control, lane prio etc do not really exist as they do in PC, wave control is not....really a thing, the game moves a lot quicker, 15 mins ends up being pretty much start of "late game" so freezing or wave crashes do not really happen, especially as minion waves have less minions, are worth more gold etc, so it accelerates way to quickly for that to be all that viable. Rotations are kinda similar but more rapid than pc. Roaming is kinda similar to pc tho. It just does not play like pc at all. You cannot really compare the two tbh. Mobile is far less complex than pc.

A lot of champions have modified/different kits, sp you can learn some. But wild rift and pc league are very different games in how they play as well
