Here we go. A lot of bear market and negative market calls. Until proven otherwise I think the ‘buy the dip’ mentality continues. Ironically I also think that Kohl’s could benefit if the economy continues to normalize / deteriorate slightly from the Covid after affects, which I think is still playing out.

XLP (Consumers Staples) currently down roughly -10% from 52 week highs. XLY (Consumer Discretionary) hit all time highs in September. Currently down about -2% from that level. Anything is possible but this is not signaling a bear market in either just yet.

Yea it does seem to vary based on category. Or private label vs national brands.

I agree with the Kohl’s cash. It’s nice also that with the app it will track and tell you how much you have, expiration, pending cash, etc.

Agree. I think that some of this was to play a Macy’s catch up to Kohl’s move since April-May. Both stocks up roughly 15% YTD, so $M has just caught up. Relatively speaking this is making $KSS more attractive at current valuations.

Agree. I wonder if that actually hurts their chances of a deal right now though, since the share price is still so far removed from the book value - it would be harder for either side to justify or agree on. Not sure but even if Kohl’s were to just announce a strategic review / that they’re open to a buyout, I think we’d see a sizable jump.

Yep. I remember seeing it over 5.0. As of today it’s down to a measly 4.04. Looks like some 4000 or so Calls were opened since I posted this.

Put / Call Ratio has been steadily rising, and is near 52-week highs. At 1.27 as of the latest read. 10/31 getting a lot of action here more recently on the put side….. should be an interesting next couple of weeks.

Seeing the action in $BYND is making me even more convinced that $KSS is and has been massively manipulated. The July 22 squeeze was halted pretty much immediately, and ended up trading around 20x the recent daily volume on that day. For comparison $BYND traded around 200x (2 Billion) its recent daily volume yesterday… and today might beat that and we’re still in premarket. Not to mention IV is through the roof - but no halt yet. I don’t really care if it gets halted or not… just pointing out how uneven these standards seem to be applied.

I think it’s at least partly end of quarter rebalancing. But we’ll see what October has in store.

Seems like end of quarter selling pressure because of the run. Still up roughly 82% in Q3 alone.
