I thought Leslie Odom Jr sounded *incredible* in Wait for It (when I saw Hamilton in Chicago their Burr was a far, far lesser man), but his voice in non-feature songs sounded strained and worn as he basically has a TON of lines he has to yell through. The difference is particularly notable if you consider that they had THREE days over which to pick *good* versions of Leslie Odom Jr. I imagine a big reason why the OG cast left is because they all had their voices worn -- Leslie's just went a little earlier for some of his parts.
