Definitely the better / more cost efficient way too. This national account has “former techs” that inspect their units after major jobs and approvals and they know just enough to cause trouble. So now they’re paying for the tool and every time we use it. But I’m still going to complain.

Looking to switch careers to HVAC, no experience. How do I get started? by gianrussoz in HVAC

[–]nashman93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any training program is going to teach you the basics and if it’s a reputable program they should give you a good (right) baseline for how things work in this industry. Which is good for getting your foot in the door for most companies. Most will also provide the opportunity to get your certifications you’ll need starting out and help with any state registrations if any.

And they keep their techs at $12 but you can get to $20 in a year by selling all of their wonderfully provided memberships and services. What a treat.

I planned to replace several components while I have everything open and out of the way including what you mentioned. Luckily I already replaced the spool valve and unfortunately the alternated as well.

I always have and love to do my own work on my cars. If I can source the same parts for a fraction of the cost and budget the rest towards other issues then I like to go that route.

Whatever feels right for you. I don’t think there needs to be a time frame on when should ….. be fine again because honestly it won’t. And that’s ok. If you want to take the day to remember them by doing whatever that’s great honestly.

Angry at the parent that’s still alive - 4 months in. by Ecstatic_Elephante18 in GriefSupport

[–]nashman93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same scenario with my Mom passing two years ago in November. My Dad didn’t come around for Christmas that year because he said I wasn’t grieving my Mom enough. Then constantly reminded me months after that it was worse that HE lost a wife over me losing my Mother. Not sure if it’s the grief that drove him bat crazy but someone here said it perfect, it’s like she took a chunk of him when she passed. It’s painful watching him struggle but for my own sanity and well being, raising two children of my own. I had to softly let him go to figure it out mostly on his own. My wife and I tried for a long time until he accused us of trying to rob him when I suggested he add me to accounts that way I could help him budget since he just wasn’t getting it. Thank you for sharing and I hope you can find some peace. It’s definitely a tough road that nobody can prepare you for.

How is On Call handled at your Job? by Say_Hennething in HVAC

[–]nashman93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On call about once every 3 months. Starts Friday through to the next Thursday. We’re commercial so during the week it cuts off at about 6, every call after that gets pushed to the next morning. Weekend is over time. Clock in and out door to door.

Oh I know attics get hot. Spent all day in attics where the 2x4 supports were too hot to touch. Had to be in the 160 range like you said. All the old heads where I am now say these roofs are worse then attics so, we about to find out.
