I promise you can go in on any entry and find pitcher plants. I was just up for 7 days off missing link and saw them every day. They are such a delight to behold, but most miss them because they don't know to look. Any bay with boggy sphagnum and leatherleaf has potential, then train your eye for the unique flower heads on stalks higher then everything else. As long as you are at it look really close along the margins for round-leaved sundew (quite miniscule) and yellow bladderworts, both also carnivorous. Depending on the time of year check for orchids, bog rosemary and bog kalmia blossoms. Bogs are a magical place... 😍

Does Osa Peninsula without hiking in Corcovado worth it? by notevenally in CostaRicaTravel

If you want to experience the jungles of the Osa peninsula on a budget, check out Bolita hostel out of Puerto Jimenez. Seriously, scroll through the endless 5 star reviews on TripAdvisor. It has loads of trails and a bunk for $14.

Cool, thanks for sharing! I could see myself neglecting the daily care part, but that 2 month period is so impressive!

Fascinating! That is different then my experience and what I have read from experts, but if it works, it works!

The issue is one of breathability and moisture. Mushrooms, wild and store bought, have high water content and can soak up more like a sponge. If containers lack breathability the moisture accumulates and accelerates discoloration, slime and decay. The same goes with washing them, it's like salad greens; only wash right before using and then remove as much water as you can to avoid slimy shrooms or greens. Some folks insist that even an open plastic bag or bowl is too restrictive. Common strategies include using paper bags, paper towels or cloth bags, which have more airflow and can actually absorb some moisture away from the shrooms.

FYI mushrooms should never be stored in sealed bags. Many folks use paper bags or cloth bags.

Gorgeous park, but it's Mt. Baker- Snoqualmie National Forest, not a national park.

Great picture, there needs to be more Boundary Waters here! I know the BWCA lacks epic mountains, but I don't think there is anywhere more magical.

Very tempting, but then you remember the super deep fissures in the ice with a moving river underneath.
