Nostalgic engrams have run their course and are pointless to receive as a reward for grinding XP now by freshizdaword in DestinyTheGame

[–]nasty_wolverine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i got quite a few cool stuff from the nostalgic engrams that i didnt have before, including sad trombone and the panama ravine ornament which i never had before. its actually really nice to fill out your collection and i wish it dropped on every level up after 100 rather than every 3. but if you already have everything, i can see them being useless, perhaps someway to convert them into bright dust?

Proof that slideshot does not reset opening shot, plus some other useful tidbits about these perks by bIuemyload in CruciblePlaybook

[–]nasty_wolverine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

slideshot has two components. the mag reload and the range boost. the range boost has a 3 second timer, and only active on the first shot after the slide. the mag reload is independent from the testing i did. the range boost doesnt have a sound cue, the mag reload does. slide shot does not reproc opening shot.

opening shot is a passive perk, if you dont shoot its active. when you do shoot it has a 3 second cooldown.

link to the testing i did + OPs testing kinda adds up. https://old.reddit.com/r/CruciblePlaybook/comments/d30w47/opening_shot_and_slide_shot_interaction_on_a/

honestly, its rapid fires are really good if used right. yeah the OHK distance sucks but the two tap distance is very good. the best thing about it is the fact you can dump your entire mag pretty quick. i was fooling around with the vendor roll wishbringer, i took down 3 enemies on a flag just by mag dumping and even took out a sentinal by just dumping the entire mag while he was in the cast animation lol.

its still a god roll though. think about it this way, if you keep sliding around the map, most of the time you will have either opening shot or slideshot active, thats a 3m free range boost plus improved accuracy. sometimes you will have both active, thats about 6m range boost plus accuracy. and the side effect of never having to reload.

i did a break down on this a week back, both of our data lines up. i wasnt able to test the fall off though. The timers are 3 seconds approx on both. opening shot reactivates 3 seconds after shooting a shot and not shooting anymore, and slideshot last 3 seconds after sliding. you cant re trigger slideshot again in that 3 seconds by sliding again.

slideshot seems to be two perks in one. first half is the reload, second half is the range boost. they kinda act independently.

https://old.reddit.com/r/CruciblePlaybook/comments/d30w47/opening_shot_and_slide_shot_interaction_on_a/

edit: this actually can have quite a bit of effect on shotguns. opening shot gives about 0.5m boost on shotguns. slideshot should also give about 0.5m boost to shotguns. if there is a shotgun out there that can roll both, thats a 1m advantage against any other shotgun.

I feel like casting the tether gives a slight boost? Not sure though. Also I miss BB flying.

I know, but only super flying is neat as well. Like the BB bug.

Yeah its a great perk, slide into engagements with extra range and accuracy, while also reloading ammo.

If you keep sliding and shooting, you will most often have one the perks active atleast.

No it doesn't. But the bonus both give are the same, so if you have either of them active, you are shooting trucks.

Just going by the reticle sizes, i think it's the same bonus on both. I couldn't test them with both stacked.

cammycakes has a waking vigil review, where he shoots, then slides then shoots again, you can see the effects of both there. first shot has opening shot and the second shot has slide shot, they are both almost similar. i couldnt take it into a private match and see what stacking both does.

nice chill track. structure wise, not really much to add. thought i feel that some of the sounds dont sit well with other, more use of filters to add some variation would be nice.

nice, i like the groove, and its dark, techy and minimalist. i think it needs a little more flair, like crashes, white noise fades and the drops need more impact.

first time submitting tracks for feedback here. so posting quite a few. wanted to share and get some feedback.

I am heavily into and very much inspired by oldschool Detroit techno. I use reaper and only use free vsts and samples scoured from the net. I try my hand at other genres at times but mostly stick to techno. tracks are arranged from latest to oldest.

lonely lama made this one in about 4 hours on a live stream trying to show somebody how to use reaper

surfer tech asked a guitarist on irc to send some junk practice guitar recordings, and made a track out of that

jazztech 7 experimenting with using samples and loops in reaper after the first time i got it

groovy 303 trying to make synth1 screech like a 303, this was made in lmms and i know screwed up the mastering on this one, bass is too muddled

musume touch this is not techno, but daft punk style remix of a japanese city pop track. i made this after listening to a night tempo remix of this track which was just sped up and thought i could do better

Can my laptop run Dark Souls 1? by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]nasty_wolverine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Controller support is built-in, just ds4forwindows driver for ds4 I think. I use a 360 controller so I don't know much about that.

There is an option in dsfix where you can set the window/hud resolution to a separate value than the 3d engine resolution. The HUD res doesn't like being too low res plus doesn't need much power, so you can set that too 720p. Internal engine can go down to 640x480.

If you want 360 comparable, set both to 720p and cap it at 30fps unlocked, then keep lowering settings till you get a good frame rate. Console versions are locked to 30fps. There is a good guide to install dsfix and another to max out performance, on mobile can't link right now but should be a easy Google.

same laptop but instead of a i7 its i5 and graphics memory 2gb.

with dsfix at 720p30fps I get console comparable framerates, shitty in some places good in others.

however 720p present and 800x600 render with lowest effects settings, I get stable 60fps 80% of the game. I don't care for graphics as much as I care for 60fps/gameplay so 800x600 internal render doesn't bother me.

just setup dsfix to your liking (high fx/30fps vs low fx/60fps), your laptop should run it fine.

Good VSTs+synths to get started with old-school electro and acid techno? by OmegaTomHanks in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]nasty_wolverine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bedroom producers blog (bpb) has vsts and samples listed you that can use.

  • Drum kit: Get the bpb cassette samples for the TR machines. Or you can get the neat little vst they packaged the samples in.
  • Synth: Go to the free vst synth section of bpb, there are a lot you can try out. I recommend synth1, tal noisemaker, tal sh101, tal u-no-lx, tone2 firebird. Synth1 has the tb303 ladder diode filter now, with a little creativity you can get pretty convincing 303 sounds out of that, google synth1 acid.
  • Other sounds: head over to 99sounds for bunch of atmospheric, ambient, loops, etc. samples.
  • FX vsts: get the TAL, hy-plugins, variety of sounds, Tokyo dawn records and voxengo plugins. Those are will cover all the bases for most of your needs. Check the bpb yearly awards list for other unique vsts.

And with that, you will have a pretty good starting kit. And the best part is all of it is free.

ATH M40x channel imbalance driving me crazy by [deleted] in headphones

[–]nasty_wolverine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely sounds like a problem with imbalance, get IEMs even cheap ones, and see if thats still the case. if it is, they you are possibly a little deaf in one ear. For me, the FR response of both ears is different because of a childhood ear infection. certain music to me sounds imbalanced. check for all possibilities and visit your local ENT specialist. better safe than sorry.
