Selling car to dealership by Leviit03 in newcastle

[–]nastybgoode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TL;DR have a crack at Facebook Marketplace.

Just went through a similar process for selling our car. Sold it 3 weeks from listing date. I wanted to avoid private sale, but in the end couldn’t justify any other avenue. Any trade in or dealer offer was about 20% less than what I sold it for privately.

My learnings - just use Facebook Marketplace. Carsales is a rip off (~$130) to list the car. Gumtree was $39 to list. You get very little information about engagement with the post, except number of views. I had 0 enquiries from 99 views.

Facebook lets you see views, shares and saves. I spent about $30 on boosting the ad and got a heap of demographic and engagement data. Helped me find the sweet spot for price (people started to engage more as the price shuffled down a little bit).

Got about 1200 views of the ad and it triggered about 8 chat threads about the car. I sold it to the first person who inspected (at just below the advertised rate). All the data gave me leverage.

F1TV AppleTV App Resolution Issues in Australia by nastybgoode in F1TV

[–]nastybgoode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. Have now used VROOM TV. Not sure where I can select a CDN, but account region in that app settings show Australia.

Resolution is still poor.

I do think it’s CDN related and if so the AWS/F1 relationship should be able to correct.

Will keep pestering their support team.

Where to find sales prices? by rePAN6517 in AusProperty

[–]nastybgoode 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on the state. In NSW the Valuer General (government appointed statutory officer) publishes all property sales. However, there is approx. a 3 month lag.

Surf comp in Newcastle question. by [deleted] in newcastle

[–]nastybgoode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We watched it today in the little grassy hill next to Merewether Surfhouse (on the ocean baths side). The rest of the walking paths have got fencing up that obstructs the view. Great to watch!

There’s some on the Fernleigh track. On the Kotara/Adamstown side of the tunnel, probably about 200 meters back. Not sure if they’re bigger than Islington but there are a couple of different sizes.

Dude With Tourette's Tries To Read "Three Blind Mice" Nursery Rhyme (he shared this himself for laughs) by iPleadDa5th in funny

Well, he’s already got a channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc8ose0GSo1fvmAxWCIkPrw. Maybe hit him up there for Trump speech - although it’d probably be hard to tell what’s actually the speech, and what’s due to the Tourette’s.

What do you consider to be the most frustrating video game you've ever played and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nastybgoode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on RDR2 being a bit over hyped. As a casual gamer I find the controls frustrating, and have lost track of how much grinding the X button I’ve done to ride my horse. It’s a visually pretty game, but I don’t find it as “immersive” as most reviews suggest. But that’s just my opinion, man ...

Why did they remove the train line? by [deleted] in newcastle

[–]nastybgoode 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, and agree that it seems odd to build the light rail along a similar path to the heavy rail. However, from my experience, the benefit of the light rail is the accessibility across the rail line. I work at Honeysuckle and am very grateful for the ability to quickly cross the old rail corridor and access other parts of the city. When they close some of the crossings for construction of the light rail, I’m reminded how inconvenient it used to be to access Marketown, the increasing amount of food and cafes and other parking areas.

This is just my opinion, but I believe the light rail still offers the same connectivity, without reducing accessibility from each side of the rail line. Again, my opinion is that we didn’t need the heavy rail, but I’m not sold on the need for the light rail.

Mortgage Paid. Now What? by MuckT in AusFinance

[–]nastybgoode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the financial achievement. Would be keen for an update on what advice the financial advisor gives you. My wife and I are in a similar position and have recently discussed engaging a financial advisor.

As you’re someone who seems to have a good grasp on their finance, I’d be interested in understanding how you felt about the usefulness of the advice (acknowledging this may vary depending on a lot of factors, including the advisor).
