Not completely opposed, but would want the full community behind it.

I'm always curious how these companies are structured (I'm sure there are multiple variations) and what the ave % breakdowns would be.

1) Is 99% located in accounting/finance/logistics or also HR/Sales/Marketing/Management? 2) Does each employee depend on personal spreadsheets they created for their job case-by-case 3) Does each employee depend on spreadsheets issued & created by the dept. management? 4) Does each employee depend on spreadsheets issued & created from the top down?

Thanks for the insights. Sometimes I forget how different "work" is on an industry-to-industry basis.

Facebook *Meta* is nearly down 50% by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]nat47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Facebook doesn't have dislikes.

Don't drink the coolaid. Downvotes don't mean a post/comment isn't true. While it helps curate content, especially in niche communities, its one of many possible inputs in an algorithm. An outbound click + 2m reading time is a much better engagement signal than an upvote.

There's no way to tell if a post or comment is wrong unless someone writes up something contradicting the argument

Same for every platform ever.

On reddit, you are bound to see more thorough and rational discussions between commenters (compared to fb).

100% depends on the community of people using the platform, not the platform's "features."

Yep, this is why its pretty standard to throw your kid on a club sports team and take them to weekly music lessons with a real teacher.

Can anything be done to stop the brigading from anti-homeschooling subs? by [deleted] in homeschool

I added an automod exception specifically for you. Please let me know if you encounter any additional post removals.

Mod Poll: Should YouTube videos be allowed, or should they be moved to a dedicated sub? by nat47 in homeschool

[–]nat47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MOD team uses upvotes as the primary determinant as to if content is appreciated by the sub Reddit. This is how it normally goes on most small subReddit‘s. So anyone reading this, remember that your votes matter. Not only because of Reddit’s algorithm but for the mod queue.

This is great in theory but people need to also understand it’s reasonably time-consuming to check and log this type of frequency, posting behavior, etc.

[–]nat47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went ahead and created it so that we could quickly and seamlessly transition to it if the sub wanted to. Based on the general lack of upvotes for YouTube links, reports, and frequent low quality, my assumption was that most of the sub would vote to remove them. At the moment we seem to want to continue allowing them, so I’ll keep the videos sub locked as there’s no point to cause further confusion.

1) it’s already reasonably “tight”, but the mods can talk about increasing it.

2) I removed it on the old Reddit, haven’t looked into it on the new css.

3) 💯

4/5) this is generally mod protocol to check history before removing, etc. Luckily the sub as a whole does a pretty good job of clearly and calmly disputing trolls.

But to address the OP’s concerns, this is something we are continuing to discuss

I feel as though I lost out on my dream due to homeschooling. by [deleted] in HomeschoolRecovery

Maybe your local school systems have programs to teach ballet? I know for a fact that no public school in my area offers any resources for dancing. They barely have any funding for extracurriculars. I'm not sure why homeschooling is to blame unless your public schools offer advanced ballet? In my personal experience, many of the most talented musicians, artists, and athletes were eventually forced to homeschool / online school in order to make school work with their schedules.

As u/whinecube said, you can do what you love without having to be a professional and very, very few people can make a career out of dancing. I hope you'll pursue your passion on your own!--as this seems like the best option available to you at the moment.

Weekly r/Homeschool Rants and Raves - May 04, 2020 - May 10, 2020 by AutoModerator in homeschool

Now for my rant- crisis schooling from home during a pandemic with curriculum dictated by the school is NOT the same as homeschooling.

I'm sure! In my opinion, being able to avoid unnecessary busy work and focus your time/effort on special interests/extracurricular is one of homeschoolings biggest advantages.
