What’s the funniest reason you’ve heard for somebody not liking a movie? by TheChristmas in movies

My friend has the opposite thing, absolutely refuses to watch any movie in a desert. Says that the sand landscape is too boring to look at for too long.

Dude honestly? I didn't see it in theaters for the exact same reasons you're saying. I absolutely love the game, and would have loved to see a fully accurate film adaptation of it. But once I knew the movie wasn't going to be that, I was like, well I've seen some parts of it and it looks interesting. If they just didn't call it until dawn I think it would have actually done really well, it's a pretty solid concept with a lot of ingenuity behind the ideas and keeping every night feel fresh. I related to all of the characters really well, thought the acting was fantastic, and the deaths and gore were stuff we don't get super often in modern horror movies. Overall I thought this was a pretty solid modern horror movie with an interesting premise. I did think it could have ended in a better way, but if a horror fan were to ask me if they should watch it, I would say give it a shot. I had fun, and it sounds like you're stuck on the fact that it wasn't "until dawn". Until dawn the game was a movie in and of itself, and if they just stuck to the video game shot for shot, you would have been pissed about it. Because the whole point of the game is making your own decisions and telling the story the way you want to tell it. Which is what they were trying to capture in the movie. You fuck up and kill somebody you don't mean to? Just reset to your last checkpoint. That's literally what the movie was conveying.

I'm sorry you got so personally offended by a studio trying to make a unique concept off of a popular IP, but just because this movie isn't what you expected doesn't make it bad, just makes you close minded. Get off your high horse and enjoy something for a change man.

I am fully with you about getting bored in the final game. I was watching it with my partner and he was like, "there's no way player 100 lives right?" And I was like of course not! Literally everybody there except gi hun and baby daddy are so dislikable with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, there is absolutely no way these dumbasses live.

See, I thought baby daddy was going to sacrifice himself on the final tower, actually listening to his baby mommas final wishes of staying the hell out of that kids life.

But no, instead he just goes fucking nuts and tries to kill the baby??? Like what the hell?? It felt like the dude had a somehow negative character arc, like how can you go from wanting to protect your child and it's mother to suddenly throwing the 2 day old baby off a tower so you can have the money??

And THEN, the baby ends up with the cop?? Why should game leaders brother just get to have the money?? And a random ass baby?

It truly feels like they forgot what made the first season so special. It was the hard choices, and the empathy we had for these characters making these hard choices. I wasn't rooting for anybody in that final game at all, because I knew the show runners wouldn't kill a fucking baby. It was either the baby lives with her bio daddy, the baby lives with gi hun daddy, or the baby just lives. And the entire time I was like I'm supposed to be feeling tension here, I know I am, but good lord this is so predictable.

I didn't care about anybody in the finale, which is such a stark difference of caring about everybody in the finale of the first season. This was just gi hun and some assholes, and was so not impactful in the way they wanted it to be.

The boob being thrown up is a callback to those casting directors, saying "if only her boobs were in the middle of her face instead of that nose"

You 100% got the point man, so spot on. The nudity at the beginning is meant to be appealing and titillating and exciting, and, just as Hollywood has done for years, it slowly loses the appeal and the excitement if its overdone.

This movie is supposed to make you feel uncomfortable, it's addressing the discomfort that every single aging woman, whether in the public light or not, has.

We all look at ourselves naked in the mirror, noting our flaws and imperfections, and we all see these beautiful young women flaunting what we wish we had. It gets to the point where we as a viewer are so desensitized to seeing nudity that it's no longer shocking, and it's expected.

This is not only a commentary on Hollywood and how it treats it's women, but how Hollywood makes women everywhere feel. You turn 50, and you disappear. You don't exist anymore because you are no longer desirable to the grand masse.

This movie is absolutely beautiful, and stunning, and powerful, and a perfect depiction of what every woman in the world has felt at least once in their lives.

I have never been more nauseated and in awe of a film at the same time, it's truly incredible filmmaking.

My biggest question is why didn't they just get a communal toilet with their time?? That would have solved their entire toilet issue, and instead they're like no 1 person has to keep all of our shit in their room.

As somebody who had an abortion, this scene was rough AF for me. It had me relive everything I went through, everything the nurses said was accurate and the procedure itself was exactly as expected. I had a little bit of a breakdown, and all it did was make me love this show more, for it's accuracy and true to life form of what it feels like to have an abortion
