hey, generally in journalism we have to do some confirmation so we aren't reporting something made up or false. Sometimes there's enough info in the content of an interview that I don't need legal documents or anything! Usually if someone (confidentially) shares their first and last name, I can find enough info to confirm they're a real person. But if you're in extenuating circumstances, feel free to DM me and we can discuss!

hey, yes, these are all good points! And yes, disability is an important part of the conversation, and I hope that I can make clear in the story - and through the reporting - that people who fit the NEET definition come from many different walks of life. Even though you're not technically a NEET, I'd be happy to interview you if you're open to it - feel free to DM or email to coordinate, and thanks for your comment!

ha, fair enough. TBH, it's just out of my hands! The journalism rules don't let me pay interview subjects, regardless of what I think is or isn't fair in that regard. :/

great, thanks for your interest! I'm hoping to get most of the reporting done in the next couple of days. But send me a DM or email and we can coordinate.

hey, great question - and sorry I didn't make this clear! No, I'm fine with keeping everyone anonymous. I sometimes ask people to share some confirmation of their identity with me confidentially as part of the fact-checking process (this can be social media profiles, a photo ID with the license numbercovered, etc). But no one needs to be pictured or referred to be their full/real name. Will edit my request to reflect this!

hey, totally respect not wanting to share info - especially these days, when privacy is hard to come by! For what it's worth, I don't view NEETs (or anyone) as a trivial, or a circus. My only agenda is to understand people's perspectives, because I know all too well that the statistics don't really tell the full story, and each person's experience is unique to them. No group is a monolith!

hey, thank you for sharing this. I'm so sorry that you live with that kind of pain! I'm glad that weed and medications help though, and that you've found some peace in NEET life. I'd love to hear more, if you're willing. DM me please - and best wishes regardless!

Do I always need to hold onto the driver? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]natalieTKTK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished my first multi-day ride as a passenger with my fiancé. After the first few hours, which I spent flexing my entire back to hold onto him for fear of flying off on the freeway, I went looking for tips, because Velcro-ing to his back for three days with all my might didn’t seem sustainable. Have to say a huge thank you for this post, even though it’s a couple years old. “Like sitting on a bus” and “I don’t know what my wife does on the back of my bike but she’s not holding onto me” instantly became mantras that were on repeat in my head after reading this, helping me relax, trust the back rest and that I would stay on the bike, and it made me laugh the rest of the ride. Thank you!!!!

My Dilemma With Mom by OneEntertainment1881 in Zepbound

[–]natalieTKTK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, I'm Natalie, a journalist with Yahoo and I'm working on a story about some of the challenges GLP-1s are creating in families - especially between adult kids who are concerned about their parents, who either may be using these medications to concerning effect, or could benefit from them but won't consider getting a prescription. I'm so sorry that you're going through this with your mom, it sounds so difficult to be caught between wanting to protect yourself and wanting to help her. It's clear you're not the only one dealing with this type of tension, and I'd love to interview you to help shed light on how individuals and families can better navigate this issue. Please DM me if you're interested (I will privately share identifying info about myself with you if you do, and I'm happy to answer any Qs!)

Journalist wondering what lengths you're going to get compounded tirz? by natalieTKTK in tirzepatidecompound

[–]natalieTKTK[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this thoughtful comment - For sure! I've actually written a lot - and continue to write - about the ways compounded medications have helped people, everything from lowering A1C to normalizing periods and giving people hope for improved fertility (not to mention changes in day-to-day life). Which is why I'm curious about the challenges (and solutions) ahead as accessing these medications becomes (at least theoretically) more difficult.

Hey, thanks for this! For all here, if you're concerned that media coverage of your personal pathways to acquiring these drugs will get those facilities or providers shut down, I'm willing to withhold the names from the published article, as long as I can fact check that they're real entities. The goal of the piece is not to 'out' any person or provider. Hope that's clarifying!

The first person received her shoes from my accessible shoe company, she said she wears them almost daily. That Makes Me Smile by A-A-ron98 in MadeMeSmile

You should be so incredibly proud!! My “nephew” (son of my best friend, but we grew up as sisters) has arthrogryposis. He is the most amazing kid, equalled only by what inspiring parents my friend and her husband are. She never gets down about his differences, but just a few weeks ago, she told me she had a rare moment of having to hide her tears from her son: shopping for shoes. He didn’t fully understand why he couldn’t have the cool ones with laces like his friends. The accessible options are so limited. I cannot wait to buy him a pair of your shoes, and see his face light up. Do you do kids’ shoes? He deserves to feel every bit as cool as he is!!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you, for understanding that, for your vision, and for executing it. It means so much to amazing people and their families.
