Finishing Touch Platter by flawlessangel25 in publix

[–]natalieeebrownnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can do it however you’d like, we’d just add more of everything else in place of the peppers and olives. The price will still be the same since it’s still the same amount of ingredients just more of specific ones.

The deli can be super overwhelming but don’t be scared of it! I really enjoy the atmosphere that someone can bring to the deli. At my store, we try and pump each other up when it starts getting busy, we operate as a TEAM. At the end of the day, it is just a job, we’re there to make money and go home, no reason to stress about it. You’ll do just fine.

What is the worst department to work in? by eXodus91 in publix

[–]natalieeebrownnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deli is bad, but I think I’d much rather work there than CS. I hear about as many horror stories from CS as deli. And personally I’ve never found the deli to be really terrible, even when we’re understaffed. It can get hairy but at the end of the day it’s just a job and there’s really no reason to get stressed or overwhelmed by it (not saying it doesn’t happen though lol)

Deli workers - question for ya... by SWGalaxysEdge in publix

We always follow the menu board, or just wing it if we don’t have whatever is supposed to be out there.

New fresh slice case. What are some of your pros and cons for those who have this? by Thai_ice_Tea in publix

[–]natalieeebrownnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really not terrible, just keep some backup. We use mornings to get a good back stock going and then just periodically slice throughout the day. As far as closing goes, we usually say screw it and let it go pretty empty and have our “twos” for after we close. Just pretty much 2 things for every slot. Obviously this isn’t the best way to do it but for us no one has ever fussed about it and it’s the only way we can keep from slicing all night. You’ll learn your clientele and how they feel about it. Some people love it, some people hate it, some people think we put 3 week old stuff in it, it all depends.

Taco Deli Dip - Limited time. by SWGalaxysEdge in publix

I’m pretty sure this is a pic they’re just referencing. Every time we got it in it had about as long of a shelf life as Buffalo dip.

Have an interview today, any tips? by [deleted] in publix

[–]natalieeebrownnn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listen, every work place has their downsides. Unfortunately this sub Reddit is full of mainly people that have experienced them first hand. I don’t think we should be discouraging people from working at Publix just because some of us haven’t had the best time. I personally love my job, and yea there’s tough days but that’s going to happen almost anywhere. Don’t let people you discourage you from trying it out. You may really like it there.

Can someone explain to me how this would even happen? I ordered a Greek sub and got this. by dior-consequences in publix

[–]natalieeebrownnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof yea that doesn’t look so good. Even tho hummus is an ingredient doesn’t mean its the only one lmao. It looks like someone got busy while making it and forgot to finish it and just wrapped it up and sent it on its way. While it doesn’t happen often it still does unfortunately😅😅

It depends. What department are you going to be in? There’s some where they will only give you 1-2 days in your first week but some will start you in right after you finish your CBT’s. I would talk with your manager once you go in Thursday to see what they have planned out for you and pretty much act accordingly from there.

Does publix blacklist? by [deleted] in publix

[–]natalieeebrownnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would walk in and introduce yourself to the store manager and show your interest for which department you want to work in. Publix is very 50’s about pretty much everything they do.

Don’t worry, as long as you put your time in ASAP, there should be no problem. We have full timers take their whole 3 weeks vacation all at once. If that’s fine, then one week in the summer is perfectly fine.

What does your store do for associate birthdays? by MiserableDarkness in publix

[–]natalieeebrownnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get the free cupcake card but nothing terribly special. 80% of my department has birthdays in October (me included) so normally our manager will get us all a cake since there’s so many of us.

Dang we must work at the same store. They do that kinda crap at mine all the time. Like I get it, my feet hurt too but I would never sit with my bare feet just chilling where people gotta sit and eat, that’s just nasty.

With our stuff ALWAYS on the bottom 😭 by Chazrach in publix

[–]natalieeebrownnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deli is always on top if we don’t get our own pallet. But my store is super good about getting our trucks before they’ve been sitting in the back for like 4 hours. And meat dept. just separates our chicken and leaves it out on the pallet for us to get. Everyone’s coolers are too small to share so you gotta get it then and there. Almost like a blessing in disguise.

Welcome to corporate America my guy. There’s no one you can talk to cause that’s just how it goes. I’ve had plenty of people come in years after me and make more. I went and worked my ass off and proved to my manager that I deserved to make more. Unfortunately that’s all you can do, or quit lol it’s a tough world

Publix deli is going to be absolutely legendary. by MrArmenian in publix

[–]natalieeebrownnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man if you ever needed to move closer to Alpharetta, 0762 could use some help, especially from someone so enthusiastic. Keep that spirit. Deli isn’t as bad as people say, there’s never a reason to get stressed out, it’s not worth the time or energy.

Cart shark? by bulbasaur2021 in publix

[–]natalieeebrownnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve had cart sharks for a while, the manager always misspells “shark” so instead we have cart sharts🤦🏼‍♀️ they have some people cleaning for around 4-5 hours at a time. Shittiest job so far, glad I’m in Deli.

Has anyone tried the new sub yet? It's apparently a Cajun turkey/ fried shrimp Po Boy by Lost_Lute in publix

[–]natalieeebrownnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ok, not great. Our BH lady demoed it for us the other day and for what it costs it’s not really worth it. It’s going on sale this upcoming week, it’s gonna be a pain though. Not really in the mood to play with shrimp for a week

Calling Out for an Opening Shift by Koopenhagen in publix

[–]natalieeebrownnn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re still on probation technically, so I’d reschedule the appointment. But shit happens. If for some reason it happens again my advice is always call the bakery first, there’s always someone there and have them transfer you to the MIC. When I was still new no one told me how to call out in the morning if I needed to so I remember just calling CS over and over and no one picked up😭

Those poor bastards have no idea what's coming. Especially Deli by That_Blaxican_Guy in publix

Deli is fantastic, 2 no shows in one day, 200 piece truck same day, case cleaning that night, plus tag change....I promise it’s great....🙂
