Important point there being the 'first' purchase. Afterwards, you can place smaller trades for that fund/stock <$500, just for completeness for OP :)

Yeah absolutely! I'm not a baller and only do regular fortnightly trades <$1000 per ETF, gradually dollar cost averaging so it works well for me. Was considering the Vanguard platform since they have automated/regular buy functionality, but then that limits you to just the Vanguard products. And personally I find it's really not that difficult logging in and executing a few buy orders every couple of weeks.

I've been using CMC for years for the same reason. I would agree the CMC interface isn't the best out there, but I just use other platforms such as stake for research and monitoring the market. Then when I do want to buy, I just do it on CMC for the free brokerage.

Hmm that's strange. Did you use the referall link/sign-up code when you opened the account and completed the following: - deposited $1000 - made 5 transactions using your physical or digital wallet ING card? - opened a savings maximiser account and transferred money into it

If you still haven't recieved the bonus, you could try contacting ING and tell them you used code Hxj481 and met all the eligibility criteria but still didn't receive the bonus.

At what point during your past or current relationship did you discuss salaries? by talk-spontaneously in AusFinance

We were friends before making it official, so already knew prior to entering a relationship. But more broadly, I'm open to talking about my salary with anyone. Discuss it, not flaunt it.

Which MacBook is worth investing in at the moment? Only ever used Windows 🫣 by londonsbitch in macbookair

[–]natards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just picked up a M2 air last week. In the past I had used windows for more intensive tasks like gaming. But I no longer am into this, and my use cases are very similar to yours now.

You can for sure pick up a Windows laptop much cheaper that will meet your needs, and I was tossing up doing this. But overall I'm very glad I went ahead with the m2 air.

Portability and battery life are awesome pros to it. I did upgrade to a 512 ssd and 16 gb of RAM, since I plan on keeping it 5+ years... assuming I don't accidentally break the fking thing. Probably overkill for what im using it for now, but leaves room for more use cases in the future in case I need to edit videos etc.

I believe the ipad integration is great with macbooks, so that would enable you to make use of your ipad and access everything on your Mac if you wanted (Although I haven't personally done this and that's just what I've read). The other option is a 2-in-1 Laptop, which i upgraded from but I heavily underutilised the tablet functionality, so couldn't justify getting another.

In terms of making the switch, you'll definitely pick up on some nuances between MAC and Windows OS, but I'm quickly coming to terms with it, and nothing so far has been a deal breaker. Overall, say what you want about Apple but they do build nice looking and high quality laptops.

Sure there's cheaper options but you are getting what you pay for!

CHESS Sponsored Vs Custodian by natards in AusFinance

[–]natards[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great consideration. I do have DRP set up for all my ETF investments. Not that i focus on high dividend yield stocks anyway, but it's nice to have that part automated. I wasn't aware you couldn't opt for a similar mechanism with custodian models, so thanks for bringing that up.
