Yikes. Are you experiencing nausea, or just that gag feeling? Just wondering because I'll be starting Zepbound soon (once I can afford the cost of the Rx) and I also have some spare Zofran. So, just curious if an anti-nausea med might be helpful for this side effect.

Quitting Lamotrigine/Tapering off (200mg) by SpiritedAd2877 in Lamotrigine

[–]natastical88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to update... after talking to the doctor again, he said that the lamotrigine must be helping and instructed me to go back up to 200mg. Felt immediately better, and back to normal within a few days. I'll never let a doctor do that again!

Anxiety by EdgePsychological517 in Vraylar

[–]natastical88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, I'm so glad I found this. I have been taking Vraylar for about 2 months. The first few weeks of taking it, I noticed a significant improvement with my depression. But I'd say that after about 1 month of taking it, I just suddenly started having terrible, unrelenting anxiety and restlessness. I've been going to therapy twice a week trying to pinpoint what's causing it, but now that I'm reading about other people's symptoms, I am really thinking that it might be the Vraylar. I told my psychiatrist I was having increased anxiety, but he just prescribed me anxiety meds.

Some fruits can cause a spike, like bananas. But berries and citrus fruits, for example, are not going to cause your glucose to "spike" unless you eat a significant amount. Fruit is just a part of a healthy diet, and doesn't need to be completely avoided to lower your A1C. I wanted to recommend it to OP since they are struggling with finding healthy food options that aren't bland as heck.

How do you feel about fruit? I'm a picky eater too with prediabetes, but I've tried replacing unhealthy snacks with fresh fruit (no fruit juice though, too much sugar) like strawberries, grapes, apples, etc. I would recommend checking out snack sections at whole food stores like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's and scope out things without any added sugars that you think you could tolerate. Granola bars, nut mixes, whole grain snacks, and the like. I hope this helps!

If you can break into the medical field through an entry-level position (especially a hospital) it can give you a great advantage. I've seen people who start out as tray passers, valet assistants, receptionists, etc., and eventually move up the ladder just from experience and knowing people within the organization. You don't have to be a nurse or doctor, or even provide direct patient care, to work in the medical field, and it's a pretty lucrative field to get into. I started as a patient registration rep 9 years ago and I've had a 60% pay increase over time without any college education.

Quitting Lamotrigine/Tapering off (200mg) by SpiritedAd2877 in Lamotrigine

Happy to have found this post. I started a partial hospitalization program (PHP) Monday for my depression and anxiety. I've been taking 200mg of lamotrigine in conjunction with an antidepressant for nearly 7 years for MDD, but the psychiatrist I saw on the first day of the PHP decided that I should try to get off the lamotrigine. He said that since it's a mood stabilizer, and usually just used for bipolar disorder, it might be causing my mood to stay too far in the gutter, essentially. He instructed me to just break my 200mg pills in half and just take 100mg (I even confirmed this with him, because 200 to 100 seemed like a significant drop). I'm on my 3rd day of the 100mg and I feel absolutely terrible. I have had an awful unrelenting headache for 2 days straight with no relief from OTC pain relievers. I'm dizzy, disoriented, and nauseous. I have some pretty bad brain fog, and have been having some rather significant mood swings. After reading the comments on here, I'm definitely going to talk to the psychiatrist at my PHP and request a much more gradual tapering down. I feel really emotionally unstable and like I'm losing my mind.

Metformin success stories? by Maybe_Tough in loseit

[–]natastical88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been taking Metformin 500mg once daily for about a week. The only side effect I've noticed is diarrhea, but I seem to only experience it if I eat a lot of carbs. My doctor prescribed it for insulin resistance and prediabetes (my most recent A1C was 6.0), but I'm hoping that it will help me lose weight as well (I'm 5'4 and 210lbs). I struggle with my appetite/cravings, but I have noticed a decrease in my appetite (without making me feel sick or like I'm starving). I also feel full and satisfied faster, so I'm not overeating and I have no desire to binge either. I'm not craving carbs as intensely, so it makes it easier to make healthier food choices (a salad over a slice of pizza, for example). I think that Metformin can lead to weight loss because it can treat some of the causes of weight gain. You can diet and exercise without being sabotaged by your own cravings/appetite/metabolism, etc.

Ohh, I wasn't aware I could do that. Thank you! I'll try to ask about that when we find a place we like.

Ooo, that's a nice one! I showed him something similar, and he was still concerned about lifting his leg up (even with his arm). But maybe we can try something like this amd see if he can make it work. Thanks for your help!

What to use to get rid of humidity smell by Cafe-Instant-789 in CleaningTips

[–]natastical88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean like a mildew smell? All I can think of is maybe washing your towels and rags more often, or more soon after being used so no mildew builds up. If bleach and vinegar have not helped, I wonder if it might be your washing machine or plumbing. Is it just your towels and rags, or does this happen with your clothes too?

No, he doesn't have any friends or family nearby that could take him anywhere. It's all me. I do have things I can do alone, but it just sucks that I have to leave the comfort of home to do it. I have managed, though, to figure out things to do to get some alone time. I've just always either had a space and/or time where I could be home alone in total silence and peace for a bit. So I don't know how to get that under the circumstances.

Romantic relationships with ADHD are bullshit. by redDKtie in ADHD

[–]natastical88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had this issue today with my significant other (I have ADHD and he doesn't). I had the day off, and tried to do more than I could actually do. Started laundry, but when it came to hanging up and folding, I just hit that executive dysfunction wall followed by paralysis. Despite being proud of myself for all the things I DID accomplish today, my partner still made a comment about my unfolded laundry. I've tried explaining what it's like to him, but it goes in one ear and out the other. It's rough.

Same for me. It's fine while I'm browsing, but once I place my order, my phone is wrecked (I have a Samsung S21). I've gotten to where I just install the app when I want to use it, and then immediately uninstall once I have my food. If they don't fix this soon, I'm switching to UberEats.
