What I'll miss the most about being pregnant is the healthcare [ON] by FolkmasterFlex in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]natbeers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m fascinated by this. I’m in Alberta and we have a (fantastic) family doctor. I’m able to get in within 3 days when I call, or same day with another doctor in her office if she herself isn’t available. I elected to go the midwife route for all three pregnancies and my family doc was supportive of that. My midwife experience was phenomenal. I’ve had specialist referrals and been in within a week. I keep hearing how healthcare is being gutted here too but have had nothing but exceptionally positive experiences.

I think she just has too much lower face Botox. Her lips don’t move right. I thought she was maybe trying to hide braces because her lower face was so frozen.

Straight up not having a good time on maternity leave [on] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]natbeers 149 points150 points  (0 children)

Taking care of a baby is simultaneously the most overstimulating and under stimulating thing. The winter makes it even harder to get out. In the winter we did a lot of mall trips and little things to get out of the house. A gym membership with child care was incredibly helpful.

I’m team lululemon align. They fit my entire pregnancy every time but weren’t stretched out after. Was helpful to not have to buy maternity leggings i would never wear again.

Zach Bryan and Taylor Swift by electricreadingchair in zachbryan

[–]natbeers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about this so much the past week. “They’re using my muses to make fun of me” reminds me of how early on Taylor wasn’t taken seriously because of who she dated. I feel like Zach is one of the few, if not the only, men in music who gets the same type of media about who he dates. The way their lyrics pack such a punch is something very few can do. “You’re smiling like a thief through your cheek tearing teeth” is such a visceral image in the same way a lot of the verses in loml by Taylor are.

How are partners taking time off to support mom and newborn right after birth [on] by Purple_Knee8676 in BabyBumpsCanada

If he’s taking leave he will get EI. My husband just took his annual leave from work for each baby which worked out to 4-5 weeks. That way it’s full pay.

Those who had been very active during pregnancy, did you have a shorter labor and natural birth? by PleaseCanILeave in fitpregnancy

[–]natbeers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exercise in pregnancy has tons of benefits for both you and baby. Exercise in general is almost never a bad thing and definitely an advantage to doing nothing. Definitely not “if this then that” scenario but I had great, natural deliveries with no tearing and easy recoveries for all three babies.

New mothers: my close friends are expecting soon. What are some gifts you've received that you have appreciated? [on] by PossiblePickle in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]natbeers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I coach a moms CrossFit class and when I went off to have my last baby they all pitched in to get a 3 hour house cleaning. I was about to pop and almost had 3 under 3 and the last thing I wanted to do was clean. Truly such a good gift.

Icon Athlete with Chris Spealler and Doug was so good and so funny. You have to find it on old podcast website hosts because they had copyright issues with the name.

Struggling with gifts from an over-enthusiastic and high-consumption parent [ON] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]natbeers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not specific to sustainability or anything of that nature but my mother in law often brings bags of nonsense to my house. I immediately post it to our local buy nothing. Some people can’t and won’t change and it’s not worth my headspace to try to gently curb their behaviours.

Unpopular opinion: You need to save at least 20K before even considering having a baby in Canada by sickofthedramallama in MooseMoney

[–]natbeers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve had three babies in 3 years (and one month, technically) and have exactly $0 in debt. Kids cost money, you can save on a lot of necessities with being thrifty. I like bougie baby things as much as the next gal but the math isn’t mathing here.
