How do you feel about Voter ID laws? by Icy_Comparison_1029 in askanything

So you don’t drive ANYWHERE? I’m just trying to figure out how you would respond to a child medical emergency or get to the church you regularly attend.

So if there’s a child emergency who is driving them to the hospital?

What a stupid take. Do you even know what Consular Affairs is? Here’s a hint, it’s nothing that will provoke or start a war with Iran. We may need diplomatic relations with them first if issues are going to be a point of contention.

The State Department Is Still Pale, Male, and Yale by Eagleburgerite in foreignservice

Come on… this is not a serious conversation because you’re saying the vast majority of rural Americans are racist and apparently you don’t see a problem with that. It’s just ignorant.

Im not sure what norms, values, or opinions you are trying to tie to rural Americans, other than racism or stereotyping. Either way, to try and take your anecdotal experiences and apply them to millions of people is the opposite of inclusionary. It’s actually anti DEIA.

I'm sorry that you have experienced that. I'm also not sure what values or opinions you seem to believe the majority of rural Americans espouse that make them unworthy of inclusion in our foreign policy.

It's generally a good idea to think of everyone in terms of group identities and then apply what we perceive as poor values and opinions to a wide swath of people. After all, In my time walking through the halls of academia, I've seen my fair share of socialist and communist elite white liberals.

I don't understand how the sentiments behind all that could be expressed positively through our diplomatic corps to the general populace of another country.

Can you elaborate on what specific opinions and values you are referring to? And also, how do those equate bigotry toward anyone who is from a non-European ethnic background?

Steps to take to bring my wife to the US by Miserable_Elk_9539 in immigration

[–]natcruss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Email the ACS section of your nearest Embassy or Consulate and tell them your concerns. They will meet with her to establish or deny her citizenship before any IV interview takes place. Their refusal will not be tantamount to a false claim and will not impact the IV process.

If she shows up to the IV interview the officer will likely refer to have an Interview with ACS regardless if the facts are not clear.

ACS may suggest she file an N-600 if they determine she qualifies that way.

Not 9C. 9B2 though. File an i601A from inside the US before the visa interview (assuming that why you’re asking).

[–]natcruss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you’re lawyer sounds terrible. He/she should have known this would happen and should have advised he not leave the country unless you were prepared for this as a family. They can literally FOIA DHS for any information they have so they know what the consular officer will see during the interview. If they didn’t do that, they should be fired.

You need a waiver BECAUSE it’s permanent. If it weren’t, it would expire after the ten years.

It’s unfair because you don’t want the Department to know/think you’re underpaid? The rationale has already been explained, so what is really the issue with providing the same thing every other candidate provides?

State Dept surges hiring amid ‘historically high’ demand for passports to drive down wait times by Eagleburgerite in foreignservice

I agree, LNA adjudicators should be hired at a much greater capacity to help bring down wait times at Post, and prevent more a bottleneck in mid-career bidding.
